I have a 5.1 speaker system with analog inputs hooked up to my computer. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit and have a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Gamer sound card. The speakers have been working fine for a long time. Today I moved the entire computer setup, and the subwoofer channel no longer seems to work. When I test the speakers through the Windows control panel, all the speakers work fine except the subwoofer, which is silent. I re-checked all the connections, and nothing seems to be missing. The weird thing is, I tried watching a movie, and I could feel the subwoofer vibrating, so sound was coming out of the subwoofer; but, when I adjust the volume balance levels and set all the non-subwoofer channels to zero, I don't hear anything. It's like the speaker itself is working and is playing sounds from the rest of the speaker channels, but the subwoofer-specific channel isn't working. Does anyone one know what might cause this and how to fix it?
Sounds like a frequency crossover issue - modern soundcards deal with crossover digitally on the card - so check this thread out, as there a number of options:
