Coast to coast - does Seattle count?

I am in the very early stages of planning a coast-to-coast charity walk in America. My question is, is Seattle considered "on the coast" or is it just "West coast" because it's way over there on the left? Am I going to have to drag myself over to Aberdeen to get started with a sense of legitimacy?

Thanks for any input.

Btw, here's a map of the tentatively planned route, based on having to start from Aberdeen.
