So yesterday I got a call from a lady in my church that found a bunch of my old mail in the middle of the street, she says that someone has been breaking into cars and stealing whatever is in the glove box, someone got there W2 stolen, other papers etc. so I go pick up my sh*t its just random mail stuff that I had stuffed into an old car sitting in front of my place.
ie: registration for the car, insurance stuff, big O tire papers, some old bank stuff, nothing with my social on it. some reciepts..
so I called the cops filed a report, the next day the cops come by and they had found some more of my stuff in the street.
here is the weird thing, some stuff was not even opened, and why would they just put it in the street?
I would chalk it up to punk kids fooling around in the neighborhood, considering it just got dumped in the street. Just keep that stuff inside the house instead of stashing it in the car.

Punk kids was my first thought also. all I know is that all my sh*t will now be shredded.
Seriously though, check to see if there's anything important missing, and also consider checking what personal information they might have grabbed from what's there. Consider changing things like bank details if they were amongst the crap.
It's more likely it was just someone hitting the street hoping to find expensive shit people leave in gloveboxes, or they may have been stealing stereos; most people leave detachable faceplates in the glovebox.

I live in a pretty nice area. I did go through my stuff and from what I could tell there was not much they could have got other then my name and address and the last 4 digits of my bank account, no socials or anything like that, at least I hope they didn't keep something more important and toss the rest.
edit: I think they were looking for personal stuff, they had alot of papers on the front seat of my car, like reciepts and stuff.
It's also possible for fraudsters to steal Credit Card application spam and piece together enough about you with other pieces of mail/trash to apply for Credit Cards.
Usually this only results in the Credit Card company losing money, but sometimes they try and hit you with the bad credit rating.
