Obviously there's going to be some disappointment, though the quality of the game is more important than the release date. Still, Bioware should be releasing another statement soon to help us cope:
In order to compensate for the delay to Mass Effect 3, we'll be releasing a very small, free piece of DLC for Mass Effect 2: Zenith Terminal. The Salarian STG has contacted Mordin Solus with an offer to use their Virtual Training Facilities, open to Shepard's squad.
Some of the simulations include Genophage Observation Operation 27: Cloacas Not Allowed; A Room with a View... of a whole lot of Batarian Mercenaries; Heavy Weapons Test Chamber; the experimental Rachni Riding Course; and the recent addition to the program (recommended after observations on Turian Special Forces training): Defending an Assault on a Gardening Supply Shop.
Specialist classes may also find certain simulations to hone their unique skills. Infiltrators will want to check out the 'Predator vs Prey' series, while Vanguards will be offered a unique take on an earth game called Bowling (we're told there are Volus involved). Engineers will get a new hat.
whoa wait what? is this real?
Apparently I didn't turn the Satire dial up high enough :P I thought volus bowling and hats would've sealed it, if not the actual name, haha.

ME3 delayed is the best news I've heard all week, I prayed for 3-5 further months of development in the last thread. Games are aplenty, and I'd much rather have the final ME chapter be a memorable one than a barebones release in time for christmas sales.
I'm still holding out for a DAO-style ultimate edition for ME2, any chance of that happening?
You probably didn't get an answer because to my knowledge, there is no announced ultimate edition for ME2. Not to say that there won't be. My money is on one being put on sale a few months before ME3 launches. Didn't Bioware do something similar for DA:O in terms of timing?
Yeah, I mean, I guess I should be lucky that Mass Effect exists at all, it just sucks because moving the game back ~4 months might make it difficult for me to play for even longer than that due to my own moving plans etc. Oh well, I guess if the extra time makes it an even better game it'll pay off when I'm hopefully playing ME3 for years to come.
Essentially, step by step, [BioWare is] adjusting some of the gameplay mechanics and some of the features that you'll see at E3 that can put this into a genre equivalent of shooter-meets-RPG, and essentially address a far larger market opportunity than Mass Effect 1 did and Mass Effect 2 began to approach.
Crap. I mean, I'm sure they'll put the extra 1-3 months (and let's be honest with ourselves, as much as we might hope for January, we may as well steel ourselves for March) into polishing things further but... *sigh*
Yeah, it'll be for the best, but it's still a touch disappointing.
Forar on
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!

Speculation ho!
What the fuck! This does not sound good. They need to be concerned about making a great game, not about appealing to a larger market.

Need extra time to develop day one DLC for Project $10.

Hey, at least it's not forever right?
Right?

but forever ends next month.
Well, at least there will be an apocalyptic scenario to play around with in 2012 one way or another!
Ditto. The last thing I want is for ME3 to turn into a rushed, flawed experience like DA2.
Do you own it? I've got a free ME2 PC download code from Dragon Age 2.
Apparently you're back? Again? Re-add me.
*First reaction* Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
*Second reaction* This is actually a good thing, they need as much time as it takes to get it perfect.
Will as soon as I get my 360 back up and online.
Speculation ho!

I have no reason to do sidequests unless there's some loot in it for me.
