My wife and I will be having our first baby in about a month's time. We'd like the ability to make quality recordings of every mundane thing our little one does. The quality of our digital cams, while great for still photos, doesn't quite cut it for video. I don't think we need anything fancy, and would set our budget at $500 tops.
I'm actually looking at the Flip UltraHD and the Playsport Zx3 as models that would presumably fit our needs and be well within the budget. Does anyone have any experience or comments on either of these?
Are there anymore expensive models (that fit under the $500 budget) that are worth looking at?
Any other advice?
I'm not really familiar with camcorders in that price range, but I will say that Cisco is killing off Flip, so I'd avoid buying one, unless it's a killer closeout deal.
I think those little flip styles are exactly what you're looking for. Check youtube for sample footage. I think Kodak is a solid contender here. Check out Newegg for reviews.
