I've had good luck getting seemingly permanent stains out of expensive fabric using hair spray. For example, my favorite brown suede Coach purse had a black ink pen explode in it. Half a bottle of hair spray later and you would never be able to tell. Just get whatever is cheapest at the grocery store and give it a try.

Try spraying it onto a cloth, and then rubbing the cloth on the fabric. I did that once to get an ink stain out of my parent's sofa.

I've gotten blue jean dye on leather and gotten it off, I don't know how hard it is to get off fabrics though.

Oxyclean really works well on everything I've used it on. Try it on an even less noticeable spot first.

As far as the hair spray thing goes, yes, I just sprayed it on. I found that I really needed to saturate it and then just dabbed it out with lots of paper towels.

It's the alcohol in hair spray that's doing the work. Just use some good ol' rubbing alcohol.

Hairspray it til its wet, then rub soap into it, the stain will come off.

What kind of jeans are you folks buying? I have yet to have any issue with jean dye and the various things my butt comes in contact with.

In my experience, what you can do with a stain diminishes greatly if you dried the item in the dryer already. Pre-dryer you have a lot more options.
