If malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Windows Security Essentials both show a trojan alureon is messing with your computer, but they can't get rid of it, is there an easy fix or am I reformating?

    Linux.

    That's not easy.

Q: Oh hey,my car won't start should I try to fix it or just buy a new engine?

    A: Horse

If you really want to do Linux properly, you need to compile your entire distribution.

To be honest, I was sad when the official Gentoo installation media moved to stage3.

So I'm thinking of investing in a webcam. What's halfway decent and halfway affordable?
Anything in the $40-50 range with Logitech or Microsoft stamped on it will do fine. You won't get HD resolutions for under $100 or so, though.

Seeing as I have precisely squat for experience in doing anything involving a video camera, HD isn't my main concern anyway. Whatever's easy enough to use that I won't accidentally display my butt to the Internet will be fine.
Are you just going to use it to camwhore? Skype? Security camera?

Mainly I'm planning on using it for my blog; convert some pieces that would otherwise be text-based. If I get some Skype use out of it too, hey, great.
The Microsoft LifeCam 3000 and 5000 series will do 720p recording, and are in the $40-50 range. The Logitech C510 does 720p too, and is around the same price. There's nothing wrong with the $20 ones really, but you'll get grainy picture quality and the mics won't be that great.

ah, good workout. i think my legs are close to being stronger than they've ever been. I squatted more weights total anyway. I haven't bothered with checking out my 1 rep max or anything. It's kind of neat to know that sort of stuff but it does also bring a risk of injury.

I remember in weightlifting class in HS we were graded on our 1 rep and 6 rep maxes. As long as you improved week over week, you were passing with an A.

    I miss that class. :(

Can't speak for nicer models, but LifeCam 3000 isn't that great. Comes with some nice software but the image quality is awful.

Oops, should've mentioned, there's a VX-3000 and an HD-3000. The HD does, of course, HD.

Tried scanning with MBAM from safe mode?

What happens when your software is 'unable to get rid of it'?

After detecting the trojan it then gives the clean computer step, it then says to restart the computer to complete the clean up.

And then it's groundhog day and you go around in circles.

The safe mode scan idea I don't think I've tried yet. Will give it a shot. :)

You may want to try Cleanup 4.5.2. It's not really intended as an antivirus, but it deleted old temp files and whatnot, which frees up disk space, reduces the time it takes to run scans, and can sometimes eliminate places that nasties like to hide.

I now recommend Cleanup, the computer is not as sluggish as before and in a few minutes I will see if the scan finds the trojan again.

    Thanks. :D

Ugh kind of having an anxiety attack but it is really for no reason.

    Hey body, knock it off!

    Know the feeling.

Have a QA monitor that I have to dispute and even though I'm 99% sure I'll win the dispute it's still bothering the shit out of me. On top of which I found out I spent way too much money this past week and while I still have a lot in savings I treat that as money I don't have so even though I know I'm not broke it's going to be driving me nuts until I get paid again.

Ugh, I need to go home and just shut my brain off and play some Rock Band or Mass Effect or something
