Boy Kotaku pretty much leaked the entire game. Looks like more of the same nothing shown has really blown me away. I'd say weapons look better but it's pretty obvious they are PC renders and won't look that good on consoles. I'm willing to bet Activision isn't too happy with Kotaku right now. Even what has been shown doesn't look better than BF3 so if this was their best effort to stave off competition from BF3 they have a lot of work to do.
The only way a subscription would make sense is if it was a small fee $5/month and it was guaranteed high-speed, fully moderated servers that included all DLC "free". For consoles this would mean dedicated servers instead of console hosting.
As for the MW3 itself, it seems like a race with other games to see how many real-world locations they can cram into a game.
They're not doing a subscription plan for multiplayer. I don't know why this keeps popping up. The same damn rumor keeps popping up every year.
People are still butt-hurt and traumatized about no dedicated servers in MW2, so "Activision is totally going to butt-rape us, guys" is the default position they assume when hearing Activision news. Plus whatever else they've done to cause impotent nerd-rage. :P

I'd buy that for $5 a month. Trouble is, even the slightest rumor about "paying extra" for something (which has cost nothing extra in the last decade) causes some people to stop short and complain, even though the suggested benefits for adding such a cost seems rather reasonable. Some [most?] folks can't see the benefit of free DLC and dedicated servers.
On the other hand, if it was just for CoD, I'm good for it, but what if it becomes the norm...? Especially if every game sporting online interaction decided to charge the same fee O_O

"None of you understand. I'm not locked up in here with you. You're locked up in here with me!"
UPDATE 11/24/10: Amazingly, months after its July appearance, this rumor remains in November, so Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg addressed it yet again in a recent interview with Industry Gamers:
Are we going to be charging for multiplayer? The answer is no. The experience you have out of the box, connecting with the online community to play Call of Duty is absolutely integral to the experience and we’ll never charge for that. It’s not going to be something we’ll attempt to monetize; it’s part of the package.
All I’m trying to get across is I can unequivocally say we will never, ever charge for the multiplayer.
Nah he'll do it. He says he won't but I bet he will. Bobby Kotick is a prick like that.
I will not be buying this and I will try my best to convince my friend not to either. He picked up Black Ops on PC after I warned him not too and he regrets it immensely.
I enjoyed MW2 for the most part, played Black Ops on PS3 for 2 days and haven't wanted to play since. I avoided the PC version like the plague. What an humongous pile of shit that was.
Saddens me that this will still sell like hot cakes.
e: Oh Bobby Kotick didn't say that. Well, at any rate, Kotick will do it even if everyone else says they won't.

All I ask for as a PC gamer is just a tad more clarity regarding differences between versions. Nothing pissed me off more than finding out through a freaking fan pod cast interview of one of the IW developers that they weren't going to include dedicated servers or other features that PC gamers had come to expect from an FPS in MW2.
"This game is not balanced for lean"
"This game has advanced PC exclusive features such as mouse and keyboard support and text chat in-game!"
are the types of quotes I don't want to hear again...ever.
BF3 first... and if I get bored months later... maybe this. I've been a COD fan since day 1 but the Infinity Ward sacking and the huge dissapointment of BLOPS leads me to believe this isnt going to be much better.
Also BF3 looks fucking amazing.

PS3: MistaCreepy::Steam: MistaCreepy::360: Dead and I don't feel like paying to fix it.
Not that I doubted the leak but this just affirms my belief that someone dun fucked up. Also, that logo still fucking sucks. Did they lose all their talented graphic designers?
Someone do something with that patrick stewart on Extras thing. the 'and i've seen everything' thing. im far too fucking lazy to effortpost some forum comedy at this hour.
Needs more photoshops of old movies with 'Am3rica' in the title.

The leetspeak, the recycled trailer...it lacks that thing Infinity Ward managed to evoke with the other two games. This whole deal just has that Treyarch copycat vibe all over it.

And a subscription service? Good luck with that. No fucking chance I'm paying twice to play online. I wonder what M$ have to say about it.
from what i've seen of bf3 coverage the story isn't half as retarded as mw3's looks like it will be

I don't know, I think it's an okay logo. MW3 is still MechWarrior 3 to me though.

This should be the new thread title.
Yup.
Kotaku leaked the entire plot.
Also, every victory you manage is entirely meaningless, and you play as multiple people.
Why I fear the ocean.
