Best Coop games for PS2?

The GlockThe Glock Registered User regular
edited February 2007 in Games and Technology
My best friend and I are pretty bored, so we're looking for some good 2-player Coop games to play on the PS2. We've already finished Dynasty Warriors 3 and The Warriors, and I was thinking of getting X-Men 2: Rise of Apocalypse.

Any suggestions?

Champions: Return to Arms is a good Diablo clone with up to 4 player co-op.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 1&2. 2 is deeper/better but also rare and costly.

yes I can't stress the awesomeness of the 2 champions games. I suggest getting both since you can import characters from 1 to the other. that way you have 2 games worth of diablo 2 co op gameplay to go through. Then there's dark alliance 1 and 2, and the single best co op game on the entire system...

GRADIUS FIVE. sweet jesus, if you're a fan of shmups PLEASE buy this game. it's the single best horizontal shooter ever made and has co op. it's amazing. Contra shattered soldier is also a very good co op game.

I second Contra: Shattered Soldier, and throw in Neo Contra as well.

While not as good as the oldschool Contras, it's definitely worthwhile.

Hell, the intro alone is worthwhile.

And the extra movie is good for a laugh.

Deja Vu...I could have sworn we just had a thread like this a few weeks back. Next thing you know, another Dreamcast Appreciation thread will be birthed.

Oh, and Champions of Norrath/Baldur's Gate 2 are my top picks. X-Men Legends is good as well.

So f'ing true. Yes it's for the original Playstation, but it's one of the few games I still play co-op with friends.

I guess this is as good a place to ask as any, but I've always wondered if it was possible to LAN a couple of ps2's and coop through the Resident Evil Outbreak titles. Seems this would be the absolute best way to play through the games, what with being able to physically tell each other what you need/are doing. Just a thought.

This was my first thought when I read the thread title. TS2 provided a lot of fun co-op times.

It's not possible, all it does it show how laggy the game is. On one screen your friend is attacking the zombie you've yet to be attacked by, on your screen you're just rounding the corner.

I think your logic was that a LAN party would remedy the two main issues with the game, lag and communication? It's a dirty shame.

For the record I only tried this on Outbreak 1, not sure if Outbreak 2 has a LAN option.

Edit: That Neo Contra video, wow. That was like the Homer of game intros. Exactly what was that

Thanks for the advice on the Adventures of Cookie and Cream.

I'd been looking for a co-op game that I would play with my son.

Thus far, we've only been able to play Lego Star Wars (highly recommended) and Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu (which is merely okay).

Too true. Even if this were a PS2 game, it would belong in the "PS2 Games for Non-Gamer Girls" thread.
