Need a brief bit of education on the matter. Usage would be in the context of, say, a journalistic vlog or something like that. By education I mean 'things I should watch out for,' 'things I should know,' and also 'your experiences.'

Important features include:
  • Reliability
  • A clever balance between affordability and relative jankiness

    I'd go with Sony Vegas Platinum Suite as it also comes with good audio editing software (which is a very important part of the entire project). NewEgg will have some solid HD camcorder sales every now and then. I got a JVC a few months ago that I've been very happy with.
