Rogers (Canada) is asking me to pay to use free wi-fi on phone?
I have a contract with Rogers and I got an LG phone with 3 years contract. No data plan because I really don't need it.
Anyways, I went to McDonalds today and it said they had free wi-fi. I thought "cool", and took out my phone to use it. I tried, and then some screen pops up from Rogers, saying that I could use the wi-fi, but I had to pay a dollar for 24 hours or something like that.
Did I do something wrong or am reading it wrong? Or does Rogers really have the balls to charge me to use free wi-fi on my phone?
This was at 7am, so I was still a little groggy and maybe I didn't read it right? Going to go back tomorrow and try it again.
What it sounds like, like many McDonalds here in CA, is that it's controlled by Rogers. For me, AT&T controls mine and it's free for me with my data plan. Without it, I'd have to pay in those locations. I'm sure it's something like that.
