DS hinge crack--need glue.

Everyone remembers the dreaded "crack" that some DS Lite owners experienced. I blew it off at the time because my imported navy blue Lite hadn't shown any sign of the "crack". Two days ago I finally see the "crack". Fifteen minutes ago the "crack" cracked. Now my entire hinge is broken on one side (the side with the LEDS and R button.) Obviously NoA won't fix it, and I don't have the funds for a new Lite, so what's a brotha to do? I loves my DS dearly... :(

Jesus, I didn't know it could destroy the thing like that. I just noticed a small crack on my hinge too. :(

Gahh..this thread just made me check my lite, i'd grown complacent, sure it would never develop the crack since it was fine during the hype..and...there it is ...NOOOOOOO

anyway if your only option is to glue it back on my recommendation would be gorilla glue, its marketed as a wood glue, but it bonds with everything, is much stronger than anything else i've used, and doesnt expand or contract due to temperature changes
edit: my crack also aint so small..and gapes alarmingly when i have it opened all the way

I didn't think so either...until it happened. I think someone else on this forum had the same problem as I do. Don't remember who it was though..

Actually, aren't they pretty good at replacing cracked DS's?

Maybe change the thread title to something like "DS Lite hinge crack - need glue".

Still, it seems like it's worth giving them a call. The worst that could happen is they say no.

NoA's customer service is good. Even if they end up saying no, they won't be dicks about it.

Is just the hinge broken? Is it still playable?

I guess what I'm trying to ask is, does it still have lots of graphics?

If you're willing to spend a bit of money you should look at the replacement shells from http://www.nds-central.com/. They look sexy as hell.

I would try this first. The worst they can do is say no, its not like they are going to bust into your house and take your DS and shit. You got nothing to lose here.

It's going to break. I guarantee it. Is there anything strong enough to withstand the hinge locking into place and also not messing up the R button. It would suck to get the hinge going again only to have the R button not work.

Edit: I'll try the customer service first. Thanks for all the helpful advice so far people!

It's still fully playable. It's just now the top half just kinda hangs there. I don't know how long the other side will last with all of the pressure that's there now..
