Mangos, IN MY RICE?!

So i'm trying to make Thai Mango with Rice but i'm having a little trouble with it. Is there a way to make the sweet rice without coconut milk and does anyone have a good recipe for a mango syrup? Mostly i'm just trying to figure out the right ratio of sugar/brown sugar to rice/water.

    In my limited experience, absolutely nothing is a suitable substitute for coconut milk.

    You will definitely need coconut milk.

    Luckily, I just found some light coconut milk in the back of my cabinet :P. Does anyone have any recipes they have tried online that are good?
