What about the mother and child on tatooine who are trying to sell that hunting trophy for a ticket off world? Some pretty horrible things you can do there too. I couldn't bring myself to do it. I never can.
Why all the Taris hate? Is it just because it's the area everyone's played through a million times?
I hope I'm not about to ruin your first run through for you... :?
You can only level your character twenty times throughout the game. Total. So the more times you level in the initial class you picked at character creation, the fewer times you're allowed to level your character in the future after picking your advanced class upon leaving Taris. So not only is it a long and drawn out section of the game which you were required to sit through before the story got really good and you were allowed to pick your advanced class, but the game actually punishes you for leveling your character on Taris by forcing you to have a weaker character by the endgame. You can refuse to spend the XP points they throw at you and horde them for additional levels in your advanced class if you want; however, doing that means that towards the end of Taris you're far below the character level for which many of the quests were designed.
This is really not strictly true. If you want to seriously power-game then saving levels is important, but those advantages require careful planning and are hardly necessary.
A level 2 (bare minimum allowed by the game) Soldier can make it through Taris just fine.
Lightsaber Jump + 5d6 Sneak Attack is hilarious. Rogues are really weak other than that trick, though.
It's not a particularly hard game. I played through on Very Hard with a melee Scoundrel/Consular at one point. Just do what you want to do. Especially the first time.
Some of you act like these games are impossible to beat unless you game the system and give yourself a really hard time during the first part of the game. This is not the case.
I uh, really liked Taris as the intro planet. It felt like a big bustling city with a lot of content, so I didn't mind spending time there.
Peragas on the other hand... hated that place. That level always kept me from replaying KOTOR 2. It's just this shitty empty station and you have to play through some sections as a dumb droid and... ughhh. Just horrible, horrible memories.

I liked Taris the first time I played it. 5 or 6 attempts at replaying the game and losing interest during or just after Taris...it gets tiresome. I just want to "brrrt" dudes with my lightsaber.
I think the most hysterical part about Taris is that
Everything you do is for naught. Helped "save" the Undercity people? Haha no you didn't they all died when the fucking city fell in on them! FOOOOOLED YOOOOUUU

Man, all this hate for Taris, and nobodies hating on Manaan?
God damned uptight fish people.
God damned boring ass trial mission.
God damned slow ass running around under water.
A few pluses though, you can dupe your gear there to get mad money without playing Pazaak (or could on the Xbox version), also you can get the glitched lightsaber there as well which makes for some fun times.
Go to the Shyrack Caves in the Sith Temple, find the room with a corpse in the middle
Quickly examine and exit the corpse menu several times over and over
Use chain lightning on the thousands of invisible Hssiss that fill the room until they are all dead
Wash, rinse, repeat
Get to level 50
Win the game
Yeah except KOTOR 2 is arguably the easiest computer game of all time. I mean the combat was trivial , it's impossible not to be a god of destruction by the two thirds point.
I'd kill for a remake of KotOR with Mass Effect tech. It shan't ever happen with LucasArts in its current state, which saddens me deeply.
I'd kill for a make of KotOR II with KotOR tech.
ZING.
I think KoTOR/KoTOR II hold up pretty well by today's standards, what with the whole turn-based thing and all that. I hear widescreen is sort of an issue but my monitor is still 1280x1024 so I wouldn't know about that. The music and voice acting is still top notch, so even though you're not exactly playing The Force Unleashed or something, they're still fun experiences. And the inventory, while not the best, still blows Mass Effect out of the water. And no stupid minigames.
I remember the UI being pretty bad with having to hit the little tiny arrows to scroll through powers at 1280x1024, I'm skeptical that they'd even be usable at higher resolutions

Are you really not counting Pazzak as a stupid minigame? KoTOR even made it mandatory for progression! Not to mention the broken as hell stupid swoop races...
One of the best gaming moments I have ever had is the experiance of becoming a Jedi in KotOR one. The first snap-hiss-hum of that blue blade will never leave my mind.
I actually liked the party members in KOTOR2 a lot more. It was nice feeling knowing that everyone on the ship hated each other and that the party was only held together tenuously by my leadership.
I only finished KotOR a few months ago after looking into Bioware games beyond Mass Effect. I had a lot of fun with it and I'm rather disappointed that KotOR 2 doesn't seem to want to start on my laptop.

They tried to bury us. They didn't know that we were seeds. 2018 Midterms. Get your shit together.
Why I fear the ocean.
or no
Actual goddamn spoilers, click at your own peril;
That's the twist. It should be pretty obvious before you leave Taris.

2 problems with this,
You can't get into the cave until you're level 14+, it just rejects you.
You cant regain force points in the room unless you're darkside and you need to be level 18 for Force Storm.

If you're light side, get Force Drain
Instantly recharge FP anytime you want in that cave
Beelining to the cave obviously involves getting to level 14 first
Badaboom
It's sort of like saying.
1. Go to visit the Queen of England.
You're abusing the term "beeline," man. Cut that shit out or it'll lose all meaning and we'll only have "as the crow flies" to fall back on.

KoTOR minigames were the worst.
