Ok, so I've never had a virus scanner on my computer. I've always just scanned every month or so with trend micro's online scanner and came up relitively clean. I do use spybot and adaware every so often, but until recently, no dedicated Virus protection.
In the past 5 years I've maybe been infected twice.
This changed recently, did a format/reinstall just over a month ago, started to notice weird services running almost right away. Decided to get Virus protection and my temp files were full of infected files. Now I have the monitor always running and I get notices every hour or so that it's found a couple more infected files (the same ones, over and over) all in temp files. I clean out that folder, they keep coming back. Running a scan just locates these files again. I keep quarantining them, and they just keep coming back.
Could it be something more deep routed? Could it be one of my roommates computers on the network? Whats the deal?
Do you just quarantine them or do you delete them? Because I had some trouble in the past with a virus detector that would still detect files that had been quarantined and not deleted.
