Detective Comics #877 is never not great, Dick Grayson as Batman forever:

img234.jpg

img235.jpg

But the big thing this week was deaths. Quite a few. Action Comics #901
Doomslayer kills Eradicator (it's like the 4th time he's died but still)

Onslaught Unleashed #4
Rikki is "dead', having Gravity do the dirty work while they had time to do so

Green Lantern Corps #60 not only a two page splash, but a two page horizontal splash

greenlanterncorps60b.jpg

And Emerald Warriors #10, Guy kills.....the doorway to his emotions:

Guy is wielding both the red and violet rings now:

War of Green Lanterns has been really really good, kudos to Johns, Tomasi and Bedard.

Mote: I read The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck and it's easily as good as everyone has said it is.

Like all star superman, it's not that I didn't believe everyone, it was just ... Superman? Scrooge McDuck?

On my phone so I can't post any excerpts yet.

Why did I wait do long read this?

Scrooge is a primal Superman crossed with Alex P. Keaton. He could obviously take wolverine in a fight. The character is boss as hell.

From what I could tell, he used his Indigo ring to channel the Black Lantern power still within Mogo for the kill-shot.

Secret Avengers was the best issue of the series so far

It managed to tell a very endearing, tragic story while also having a scene where
the Lincoln Memorial along with a tyrannosaurus and replica native americans from the Smithsonian all come to life and smash Nazi robots.

    Bravo, Mr. Spencer.

For a second there, I thought the guy in the first scan was shouting "ACOCK!"

Also, I'm not reading GL, but I thought Blue Lanterns were good for nothing but supercharging Green Lanterns? What is Kyle doing in that fight?

Kyle tried to use his blue powers to mellow out Mogo and break free of Parallax by creating a Bzzt construct. It didn't work.

Well Blue Lanterns are also supercharged to be by far the most powerful lanterns when near Green Rings.

So when you are fighting Green Lantern they are pretty good because your power jumps up like a motherfucker.

    Green Lanter Corps #60
Isn't Mogo responisble for directing rings to their new owners. With him gone won't the Corps wither and die?

Man top notch coloring on all the green lantern books. The colorists must curse Johns for bringing the different lantern corps.

My MotW was, irrespective of the comics I got (the Batroc one-shot, Rocketeer, Strange Adventures) getting an $8 comic for free. My store had a buy 2, get the third free sale and they discounted me on Strange Adventures instead of the two books that cost half what it costs. SO, bonus me.

SA looks awesome. Still need to finish it. But I also loved the Batroc one-shot. He's amusing as all Hell.

yeah they're kinda boned. pretty much everybody was like WHAT THE FUCK JOHN but there didn't appear to be any other options. Mogo was essentially sending out millions of rings to grab new lanterns from all over the universe to swell Krona's army.

Also John Stewart is now officially a more effective planet killer than the Death Star.

The Red, Yellow, and Violet Corps manage without a similar system.

Surely there are enough rings out there to cover the Corps. until an alternative is found.

Everything is in such a damn mess I think they'll have to do a roll call and just see who the Hell is still around after all this is over.

Most of the named lanterns are still around though.

And un-named Lanterns aren't that hard to replace bearing in mind that the rings can find new recruits.

You know what my MOTW was? The surprisingly touching conclusion to Astonishing Spider-Man & Wolverine. It was like some crazy, in-continuity What If? story that ended on a proper emotional note.
Doom planets, Dark Phoenix Wolverines, diamond studded drug dealers, Mojo, Devil Dinosaur, all sorts of crazy. But in the end Spidey does not get the girl and Wolverine drinks ale. I really enjoyed the whole thing.

Oh, and they brought Dog, from Wolverine: Origins, back to the present from the 1800's in the epilogue. Which could be kinda cool, a human Sabretooth replacement.

I've got to say, I still haven't gotten around to reading Strange Adventures (Though as much as I dislike vampires, the American Vampire ad with a Nazi vampire drawn by Sean Murphy looks amazing), but I did read Rocketeer #1. Right now I'd be hard-pressed to think of something better than the "photo" of the Rocketeer wielding dual katanas and battling a giant gorilla samurai with a katana in one hand and a wakizashi in the other. Kurt Busiek wrote that story (It's mostly about Betty while Cliff is fighting in World War 2 against giant octopus submarines and such), and damn it I just want a full issue of that. Drawn by Michael Kaluta and colored by Dave Stewart.

    Wait what
Spider-man gets time-knocked back to when Wolverine was a teen and Dog is out hunting him down. Long story short, Dog wanders into a cave full of time-diamonds and ZAP! He's in the here and now.
