Updating HTPC/slight gaming PC (This should have gone in the tech forum! Whoops!)

Need a bit of help, I'm totally out of the loop with hardware.

Currently I'm running two pcs:

1) My server. It's on 24/7, ready for remote desktop and monitors for downloads. Is now creaking under it's own weight:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2ghz
Memory: 2gb DDR1
Onboard graphics
Dreadful PSU
4 Harddrives of varying sizes.

2) My HTPC. Does the job at the moment, and plays the odd occasional game. Can usually crank things up to a decent graphical level:

Core 2 Duo, 2.8ghz (I think)
4gb DDR3
ATI 5750
mAtx 500w PSU

So I was thinking of upgrading the first computer sometime soon, however my HTPC psu has just blown up and that's given me food for thought.

It's in an matx case and I can't get a GOOD matx PSU so I was thinking of getting a larger ATX case (This one http://www.dabs.com/products/silverstone-la-scala-htpc-atx-black-no-psu-77NG.html?refs=351080000) and getting a new Motherboard, CPU and PSU for my HTPC (keeping the ATI 5750 in it). Then moving the core2duo/4gb in to the current 'server' machine.

My problem is I have no idea what to shove in my HTPC. Any suggestions? I mean the current specs of it do me, but I feel there's probably better tech out there now and I should give it a go. I don't want to spend a fortune though.

The games i play are usually indie and fairly low spec, however I like the occasional game on Dirt 2 (and soon 3).

Help!
