You really shouldn't be able to screen Carnifexes with gants unless you're doing some crazy modeling shenanigans. Cover requires that 50% of the model is obscured.
Warriors, now, or gargoyles...
Holy crap.....
Best modelling idea ever. Gants in suits with black sunglasses and ear pieces jumping up and taking shots for whatever unit they're screening for as if they're secret service.
I think the idea of an all artillery guard army could be great, but some of the pieces need to come down in cost IMO, or get more survivability, AV12 just sucks in that sense. But yeah, 3 griffons and 9 basilisks would be pretty hilarious.
Also, an all mortar themed guard army could work pretty cool, if you had 2 Masters of Ordinance, max heavy weap teams with mortars, a deathstrike, 3 bassies, 3 griffons and some demo charge specialists... hmm...

Played a couple of games today, once again Halos' Tyranid List of Reverse Effect proved that Genestealers suck at combat and Lictors are the best.
My Genestealers are constantly screwing up easy rolls, like missing more than half their attacks against Guardsmen, or rolling only one 6 on 24 dice against an immobile Manticore. Whereas my Lictors are always exploding tanks with their flesh hooks and tanking Krak Missiles with their cover saves...

Haven't read their entry in a while, but don't Lictors get a +2 to any cover saves? Seems pretty easy to plonk them in some good cover on the turn they arrive and get a 2+ cover save. They'll be tanking krak missiles like pros.

Okay, this is irritating. Checking out my Zoanthropes last night, it seems they're bending where the base of the tail meets the bit of Tyranid... stuff coming from the ground. Either that or I'm going crazy. It's not significant, but enough that it looks like they're bent. I have them lying on their sides now. I'll be getting an army transporter case of some kind soon, so they'll be lying in their own plucked tray after that. But after standing for only a few weeks, they're already bending?
What I don't get is, it's been really cold lately, like between 0 and 20 degrees celcius, so it's not heat effects.
Stuffing bags for Wargames con on Thursday. THQ/Relic sent us a bunch of stuff. I hope it is awesome.
In other news. My new ork list is crushing. Just ruining days.
I'm thinking of going from 6 bikers and warboss, to 5 and a warboss then finagling out some upgrades on my wagons and using the difference to snag a "green baron."
Anyone have any experience with the alpha striking or outflanking the single deff kopta (TL Rokkits, and a Buzz Saw)? Is it worth losing two wounds in my Nob Squad?

To be fair, the part where the tail and base bit joins is pretty thin, so I should have expected it. Just glad I caught it before they were too bad. I'll just give them a bit of hot water tonight and bend them back and keep them lying down. Mostly it's an issue because I don't have a case to keep them in.
Makes me wonder what's going to happen to Venomthrope tentacles though. Those things are long and thin.
Anyway. I am doing such a shitty rush paint job in order to get war walkers ready for my buddy so he can play in Wargames Con.
I hope I'm not ruining my walkers. I mean paints all thin and junk, and it is basically amounting to a three color base coat with some dry brushing; but I just hate poorly, or not at all, detailed models.
Isn't the 50% obscured to be in cover rule for vehicles? And 50% of a unit has to be obscured for the unit to give the entire unit cover? I thought if any part of an infantry model was obscured it counted as being in cover. I don't have my rulebook handy but I think they go out of their way to say that cover is intentionally generous.
On another note, my first DE game didn't happen. Boo.

MCs are not infantry and follow basically the same cover rules as vehicles.
Though a Tyrant with Tyrant Guard can get cover much more easily, since it's then in a unit and will have cover if the Guards do even if he's standing in the open. Strange but True!

False alarm. I think.
Looking at the Zoanthropes again, the older Zoanthrope is fine, and the newer one isn't so much as bent but I based it at a slight angle. I ran the tail join under hot water and repositioned him so he's stright, and I'll see what happens.
edit - I'm pretty set on getting a Battlefoam case in the next few weeks. How is the 1520XL? It's going to need to hold infantry heavy Tyranids and Vampire Counts.
Ok dokies Warham fellows-peoples. I'm returning to the game after a long absence and would like to start with a small army, and expand it slowly over the next few months to a year. In the past I've played Eldar, Tau, and Black Legion, but I think I want to go with a Death Guard themed army.
Here's what I was thinking for a 500 point core, with an optional expansion up to 750.
500 Point Core-
HQ:
130 pts.- Daemon Prince - Mark of Nurgle
Well for starters I would get rid of the demons and put in rhinos instead
But at 500pts that looks like a decent force. Honestly I wouldn't bother with a champion unless you are going to give him something (power fist!), but it's not bad really. Plague Marines are great, and will serve you well.
If you are using a champ for plagues they need a power fist. Plagues hit at I3. Plasma isn't bad, but for as you expand you will want one group of double melta at least.
When it comes to building your army just magnetize so you can swap stuff around. Like your pred is decent at 500 points but later you might want las sponsons. Havocs are good points sinks if you have about 60 points or so left. Since there isn't a lot you can get 60 points in the dex.
Plagues are awesome. But plasma isn't the king it use to be. When I run plagues I tend to run 1 plasma squad(2x plasma, 1 champ w/ fist, rhino and total of 7 bodies). At 500 though that is a bit expensive. I then run 2 melta groups. Same thing but meltas instead of plasma. I don't think I have played at 500 points with my chaos in ages though. So this is more looking to the future thing.
I always thought overstated randomness was kinda dumb in a game that involves rolling hundreds of dice.
The irony here makes Alannis' head spin.

They're a part of Games Workshop - their replacement policy is basically identical to the main company's, i.e. ship a new part gratis when asked.
If you can, call them on the phone during UK working hours for the fastest response but e-mails do work, eventually.
Can't hurt to have photographs of the messed up parts but I've never been asked for any, so...

Huh? I haven't played paintball in years...where'd this come from?
Someone might've brought up paintball at the Battle Bunker. I haven't played paintball since the college club president got expelled for drawing a pistol on his roomate - I certainly wouldn't mind doing so again, although at this point I think the only gear I have is a mask and gloves. I've heard Insight Paintball up in Laurel is a good resource to check out, although I haven't done so myself (unlike warhams, I don't think just showing up at a field is a good way to play)
Yeah, I haven't played since I did tournament ball in like 2002. Game's changed a lot...and up here I think OA is the only respectable field. There's a place further north, I think in Elkridge, that was pretty helpful. I went to Insight once in Laurel and they were closed for lunch for like an hour. Still, I wasn't there to talk about paintball, so it's weird that you called me out and I happen to be a former player
Someone needs to show mr_mich a photo of timsporks Guard.
Oh you mean the guard that GW borrows for massive mega battles at Gamesday?

So, still thinking Battlefoam. I'm going to need, to start with, 5 infantry trays, a VC Cavalry tray and a Tyranid 4x Carnifex + 4x Zoanthrope tray from them to start with. That's all the infantry trays I'll need for a longass time, and plenty of room to expand my VC and Tyranid large/special creature count. All that also only takes up just over half of the room in the 1520XL, which is awesome.
However, it's $150us for that foam, and $150 for the empty 1520XL. This better be a fucking good miniature case.
The following people are amazing and I love them: Wildcat, Timspork, Kias, Denada, susan, Sharp101, [GHSC]Ryctor, Matev, Matrias, ItBurns, Slapnuts, Dayspring, see317, and the unknown poster that sent me a box of Death Company! If you get them as Santees you should buy them amazing things!

I've lost only game since implementing this list, in a tough ass training circuit. I have to say I wish I was running my Kans and storm boys. But good god damn. This tournament will not reward fun time list. That said. I have I great time with this list though I play it rather unconventionally.
The only game I lost I had it won at the end of turns 5 and 6.
In turn 7 it turned into a loss because of grey knight grenades that saw me kill 15 Orks for him after he only struck down two.
stragint, i like the list overall, but there are a couple things I'd change:
First, lose the massive amount of frost blades. They're cool, but i'd rather have a fist or just the free power weapon that comes with the termie, or just have one or two. Replace Fury of the Wolf Spirits with Living lightning, also, i'm not a huge fan of plasma specifically in grey hunter packs, because it's not an assault weapon, but that's me. I like the list though! Oh and move the chainfist from the CML to a regular dude for wound allocation purposes
