Japanese to English script translation difficulties

Hey all, we've got a fan-translation project in the works(for a niche PC shmup), and some of the script is obtuse, to say the least.

There's a few tricky lines, but this one in particular is leaving us in the cold:
こちら、オゼット。目標発見。 敵、ONIタイプ。
1933年に我が総統に憑りついたものと同じです

Is this an accurate translation? Brackets are the confusing parts.
This is it, Ozette. The enemy, ONI-type. The same [thing] that possessed our Ruler [Hitler] in 1933.

I'm guessing it's [strike]hiragana[/strike] katakana for another language, which is why it's difficult to interpret?

Also, any recommended online resources for this, besides Babelfish(ech). I'm still rough at this.
I have a helper, but it's still slow going.

You mean Ozette and type? That's katakana being used for foreign words.

Without further context, it looks like your translation is reasonably accurate.

You could try google translate, see how well that works for you.

No, specifically [thing] and [Hitler]. That's the parts that are unclear.

I'm confused where you're getting Hitler from, unless the context that they're talking about the ruler of Germany in 1933 is provided elsewhere.

I guess it says ruler, and that's an assumption based on context? I'm more curious about what the text literally says before translation.

Ruler, but I've seen soutou to mean president, or fuhrer a couple of times too. Ozette and Type are the only words in katakana. The fact that mono is in hiragana instead of kanji makes being sure of the meaning a little harder, but it seems to fit.

Repeating it in the order it was written, the last sentence more or less says, 'In 1933 the fuhrer was possessed by the same thing.'

However, my Japanese has never been more than passable, so take it with a grain of salt.

The first link is fairly good for kanji translation is you're just copying and pasting

And I like this dictionary, but it tends to return a lot of old, or no longer really used words, so use it with care.

Fumiko is German-Japanese, so it's very likely she means fuhrer.

    Still, quite helpful. Thanks.

Have you considered getting an electronic dictionary? A decent ExWord or WordTank is a lot more useful than the various free dictionaries on the internet.

EDIT: Just taking a quick look around, the sharp PW-M800 on ebay looks pretty good.

I checked my Japanese dictionary; that word does have "fuhrer" listed as one of its meaning and I think it is the best option for this context.
