The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Skies also had some of the best music of any game. Proper, orchestral themes. It also did this brilliant thing that I wish more RPGs did which was alter the battle music depending on if you were doing badly or well.
Metroid Prime is one of the few games where every time I'd play it I would let the main menu theme loop at least once.
That monologue is not in the original version of the game. I thought it was only added to the Brawl version of the track.
Also I think it's a much better piece without the talking.
The Dizzy games only had one song that played for the whole game. And there was no save, so you had to beat them in one sitting. Luckily, the songs were really great!
I was making a Youtube playlist to make it slightly easier to listen to all of this, but it would appear that I am unable to add more than 200 videos to a single playlist.
Also, I think it's pretty cool that Sabremau posted a track from Jazz Jackrabbit. I played the shit out of that as a kid, but rarely see it mentioned anywhere.
Mirror's Edge Still Alive is pretty damn great. The Portal song is by no means bad, but it doesn't really work out of context. I can't imagine it being anything but super weird to people that haven't played the game.

Coran Attack!
His Hitman stuff is so good
If I had to challenge a deity, I'd want this music playing nonstop through the whole thing.
I love the horns in this song

Skies of Arcadia was another such game.

Battle Theme
It made the final boss actually rise and fall thematically even within the confines of the battle mechanics. Superb, beautiful and epic.
Ramirez : Opportunity
See how the music changes in mood halfway through, that's contextual to how much HP you have compared to the enemies. A great feature.
It also had this music:
Silver Shrine
Which accompanied one of the most eerie and solemn environments.
I don't like JRPGs as a rule. Skies is the exception that proves this rule.

Honestly almost the entire soundtrack could go in this thread. It's all great and so varied because of the globe-trotting nature of the game.

Gets epic when the 1:50 chorus medley kicks in. It has that 'fight for survival' theme to it.
Also, it was composed by Guilty Gear/BlazBlue's composer, Daisuke Ishiwatari. You can probably tell.

Warcraft II had really good music.
There was a time when I really like Noriyuki Iwadare's stuff, but anymore I just can't listen to it. I think it's the cheesy guitar/synth combo.

Haha, yesssss. Some of the Castle Crashers tunes were soooo good.
MMORPGs have some of my favorite game music, like
Goblin Starting Area Theme
It starts out light, and at about the 3:00 mark the main theme kicks in. I just really like this song.
and FFXI had some terrific music. Only part of the game I actually enjoyed, but whatever.

Also, I really need to play Psychonauts again...

nor have I ever played Skies of Arcadia.
Are these things I should change? [y/n]

Both of these songs are called Still Alive. Coincidence? Yes.
Borderlands has some good music, but there are two tracks I particularly like. Coincidentally, they are both by Jesper Kyd.
