DISCLAIMER : This thread is for the discussion of any Alien franchise related piece of video game software. Alien: Isolation is just the new hotness is all.

HOW WILL YOU SURVIVE?

Discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger. Fifteen years after the events of Alien™, Ellen Ripley's daughter, Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother's disappearance.

As Amanda, you will navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien.

Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive.

Alien: Isolation will be available in late 2014 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4
and PC.

Oh man, so bought. Aliens was a great movie and I'm glad they never made any more movies after that.
I refuse to admit that any of those others exist. Ripley, Newt, and Hicks went off to live happily ever after.

They're already doing it wrong. Hadley's Hope got nuked. I'm relatively sure it didn't pick and move to the minimum safe distance.

Yeah, I hope they haven't come up with a horribly convoluted reason to why they can go there.

Also, the Sulaco set off from LV-426 before the fire that caused the medical bay to be jettisoned. So unless the fire happened within 5 minutes of leaving then surely they would be nowhere the planet.

Well, I'll give them your second point. Simply because they are apparently ignoring Alien³. But yeah, unless that imagery was only being used because it's very blatantly "Aliens," I'll be kinda annoyed with this.

Ship was in a different location on the planet, they could claim there was another colony and the video from hadleys hope is just previous verified data there are xenomorphs. Its just a teaser, I'll wait for more story before I decry them the worst ever.

Also game could take place on a Weyland Yutani ship thats been overrun by aliens after a failed attempt to extract them from the original alien ship. Plenty of ways they can take this story.

Hmmm.... not to keen on the "self-contained missions within an over-arching narrative" bit.
Wasn't AvP09 set up that way?

Also, when did that take place? (I ask because of the weapon redesigns.)

To me the self-contained missions with drop in drop out co-op for up to 4 players screams Left 4 Dead.

Now, imagine Left 4 Dead.. but with Aliens.

I actually do enjoy 3, but it did a whole lot of things wrong. I understand and accept getting rid of Hicks and Newt, but there had to have been a better way than just killing them off in the opening credits.

Aliens is the only movie I've ever bought 3 times (VHS, DVD, iTunes for iPhone awesomeness).

To call this a potential day 1 purchase is an understatement.

Emphasis on Potential though, no blind buying for me. I reserve that for Valve, Bioware and Blizzard.

I posted my reaction in another thread.
Hmm retcon? I mean this game takes place after or during the time period of the third movie, yet it is set in Hadley's Hope on LV-426 which was the location of the second movie. I think we all know why this isn't cannonically possible. Something to do with a white hot flash...

Aliens 3 is actually pretty decent if you watch the directors cut. As far as resurrection goes while it isn't unwatchably bad it probably says something that the behind the scenes stuff in the Quadrilogy for it was more entertaining then the movie itself to me :P

There could easily be more than one of those atmosphere processors located at different points across the planet. It would be really in efficient to have a terraforming project working from a single plant instead of multiple plants spread around.

Alien 3 has a lot of problems behind the scenes that you can use to excuse it's badness, but in the end, that's all you're doing is making excuses

    Alien 3 is still bad

If there was anyone left alive who could actually make a good alien film again, it's Ridley Scott, but who even knows what movie he's making anymore
