Wonder what impact their 1920x1200 maximum will have on my game. Have been running at 2560x1440 for a while now.
Awesome, I'll PM you my server info if you want to drop them off for me. I'm in pacific time, with a 5 month old, so I don't get on til after 11PM. Anything I can give you in exchange? I don't have any new stuff and won't until late tonight.
Alternatively, hit me up on steam: Broncbuster or Broncbuster187
Edit: Oops, I guess you wouldn't be able to conect due to versioning difference since the update. I guess it won't be working until after 8PM your time, about 6PM my time it should be up.

One of these is the most significant improvement this patch. I'm not sure which.
This makes me sad.

What's funny is that I totally frowned when I saw that patch line too. I kinda liked the ability to randomly get health or mana when spelunking around hell/dungeon.
Destiny! : Warlock - Titan - Hunter
Does the auto-save work with the server also?
What is the anti-griefing thing it talks about?

Of course, I'm going to do a new server/character tonight on my server. We're about 3-6 regulars if anyone needs multiplayer buddies.

Auto-save did always do a backup, at least watching the server console. Not sure about the save part of it. but something at least used to backup the world file every so often.
No idea bout the anti-griefing.

I'm working in a Small World (after all) right now, though once I see all there is to see and do most everything, I'll probably move to a bigger one where I can build my dream fortress.
The problems I'm running into:
A) I can't seem to find much ore. Finally got enough iron to craft an anvil and a chest to store my coin while spelunking, so maybe that freedom will help, but I'm woefully underrequipped.
I haven't found any heart stones, which is begining to annoy me.
If you are going to start a new world and character I'd like to join in on the fun.
You'll acquire them in time, as you go down deeper and deeper. Don't worry too much, as iron, in my experience anyway, is kinda rare, but ultimately worthless, as you'll pretty much skip over it and find tons of silver and gold. So by the time you're down into the silver and gold areas, you'll start finding the hearts and other items. You'll know when you go too far.
Regarding small world - if you're playing by yourself, a small world is plenty of building space. There is basically no reason to do anything larger than a small on your own. If (and it's a big if) you find you don't have enough resources lying around, you can make more worlds to stripmine. Medium/large aren't particularly necessary unless you have a big group of people all playing in the same world.
(a) There's a bit of a curve at the beginning with ore. It takes a little bit to get through the first couple of tiers of ore, but once you're playing in the stone level of the underground, you'll have more ore than you really know what to do with. Once you've got your chest and can spelunk with impunity, just find a cave and follow it deep and mine what you come up with while going as deep as you can until you die. The spoils from that spelunking expedition will be plenty to outfit you for further forays.
(b) That is annoying, but it, too, is remedied by spelunking expeditions. They seem to show up a lot more frequently as you get deeper underground, in my experience. It really won't take long before you've gotten several.
The early game has a (relatively) large amount of tedium in getting past the first little bits, but once you get some ore to make some non-suck armor and non-suck mining equipment, getting more becomes much, much quicker.
Once you get a pick that can get through dirt and stone in a reasonable time frame, I'd recommend building a shaft straight down from your base into the stone level of the underground, and just putting some cobwebs or a pool of water at the bottom. Then you can just drop down and spelunk starting in the bottom part, mine ore until you die, then spawn back at your base and drop down and get straight back to the spelunking.
I did that for the first maybe ten hours of spelunking I did. Thereafter I was using either orb of light or molten gear and suffered from some combination of getting tired of placing torches all over the damn place and forgetting that I hadn't already manually lit things due to my character-based lightning.
None of my current stuff is lit if it isn't a residential area or otherwise lit for aesthetic reasons.
Regarding iron: It's useful for chests. Lots and lots of chests. Also a couple other side uses like iron chains and anvils and whatnot. It is not useful for gear, but I find myself looking for it as an ore more than any of the other basics, regardless of what level of progression I'm at in the game - early game, I need it for anvil/hook; late game, I need it because 150 chests in my vault aren't enough damnit I need more.
Yeah I light up all my tunnels both for widespread lighting and as a "breadcrumb" trail to see which tunnels/caves I haven't explored yet.

Coal would be nice as well, maybe have it work pretty much exactly like in Dwarf Fortress, needing wood or coal for smelting and forging, while letting you combine iron and coal to make steel.
i too, would like a server i could frequent
I'll PM you guys the Info. Keep in mind most of the players are PST late night players, this may work or not work for you. Our plan this time is, No outside stuff, except for Harpoons or Vilethorn and make a communal house so the NPC's aren't F'n Miles apart (I'm looking at you last map). Something like this:

Also, the server won't be up for a few more hours as I'm at work and haven't patched/relaunched the server. I'll PM you guys after that happens.

I probably won't be able to play today and who the hell knows when I'll be able to play in general, but everyone seems to have bailed out of DC's server and I'd certainly like somewhere to play with other peoples.
Talith, you've made me as happy as a little girl.
Really wish there was an aqua lung or scuba gear right about now
If you don't want to drain the ocean, build a little air pocket right by the meteorite and you'll be fine.
Impossible to do unless you do it with the meteorite itself; the ocean is lined with sand.
Why are harpoon and vilethorn exceptions?
Anyone else disappointed there wasn't a harder boss added?
He can build a large block of stone, cut into it and up to make an air pocket, build below him to force out the water, and then remove it again. It will take some time, but it's doable.
