Yeah, completed this first time through, and bought the soundtrack today. This game is so, so good. I will give you my money, developers. Please do more!
Also, late game spoiler,
I totally wasn't expecting the ura to just stop attacking, seeing me drag zulf back. The one that did fire being immediately taken down. Beautiful.
That said, Zia's speaking voice just didn't seem to fit. I almost wish she hadn't been voiced, and they'd kept the only contact with the game be the narrator.
Who also doesn't look like he sounds.
Those are pretty much the only criticisms I can think of though.
The ending(s) made me want to cry even though it was sort of happy.
Hmph.
S-stupid game. It's not like I was touched or anything.
*sniff*
I'm actually with you on that. The whole singing while carrying part near the very end was excellently done.

Just finished. Hot damn that was a good game.
I chose to save Zulf even though he was a prick and be kind of selfish and turn Bastion into an awesome airship and have fun adventures around the world. I figured there was too much uncertainty with trying to activating the restoration sequence what with the zero testing and no guarantee the calamity won't happen again. Plus I wanted to give Zia a good life.
so... just finished the first section and opened up the Bastion.
To be honest, struggling to stay interested - does it develop a little more after this point? None of the elements are gripping me too much yet, but I will soldier on a little because everyone is saying its so great...

immensely. This is pretty much when the actual game starts.

I agree.
I was pretty much saying at my screen "Why are you guys attacking me? It's over!" And then they just stopped.
Probably one of the most memorable moments in a game I've ever experienced.[/spoil
er]
I file this ending up there with the Bioshock twist reveal(beating that dude with a gold club), Reepicheep near the end of Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and District 9's final moments with Wikus Van De Merwe.

Stick with it! That's exactly what happened to me. I quit before I even got to The Bastion, but thank god I gave it another shot... one of the best games ever made.

I saved Zulf as well... he was a dick... but I'd rather keep him alive and remind him he was a dick.
As for the ending...
The one you chose was the 'real' ending. If you start a new game+ it assumes you took the other ending. And the narrator will mentions things about feeling like this has happened before. Meaning that by stopping the calamity you just started a time loop and it will just keep happening. So yea... AIRSHIP OF ADVENTURE!
I own this on Xbox. You're making me want to buy it twice.
...come to think of it, what's a good twin stick controller? I'm new to PC gaming. (No it's not for FPS games. I'm thinking along the lines of Batman.)

You'd be hard pressed to find a better PC controller than an Xbox 360 pad, and the Razer Onza is by far the best Xbox controller available, and it's not overly expensive. I'm using mine because being wired to a PC isn't a big dealbreaker like being wired to my Xbox across the room. Bastion plays great on it.
Ah, it stinks, it sucks, it's anthropologically unjust
Okay, how the fuck do you deal with peckers, particularly the small ones, without taking a lot of damage? I'm using all shrines, so melee means you will likely eat a bomb or two, multiple little fuckers means you really can't just roll away since you're perma-snared, they are adept at avoiding even the homing shots of the repeater and counters seem to do little damage to them. Countering is a bad idea anyways since they're not going to be attacking in-sync.
So fucking good. Really loving the hammer and musket combo, with hand grenades for the bad stuff. Also the 100% crit tonic below 33% health. Did all 20 waves of the kids dream hardly ever healing above 30%, blowing everything away with crit muskets like a boss.

I just used the musket. It's really good vs them and the equally annoying explosive eyeballs.
Maxed out Cael Hammer with the life leech tonic and the one that gives more health tonics and improves them to 100% healing. Its like 60% of your health bar after the life leech tonic, but who gives a shit, my hammer does 200+ armor piercing damage after charging with my shield out.

The mortar is a good complement to that, with the "no friendly fire" enhancement. A short-range shot can get you out of most jams.
So Werewhiskey seems to be the not-so-secret key to like... half of the proving grounds
I only had to use it for the pistol proving grounds. I think that one is impossible to do without Werewhisky.
Nah, that one is doable once you have some damage add-ons to the weapon. The key for me was realizing I didn't have to react to which direction the target was, and could just start shooting and let the Kid auto-target for me. D'oh!

I think we're about half way through at the moment, just got to the bit where

Wat?
From Steam I'm guessing? Do they talk?

Where was that?
True story.
I don't cry.
Its both a special attack and a memoribilia bit they'll talk about

I just love how useless the rifle is with idols on.
