For the RPG genre, the Knights of the Old Republic games are great. For RTS, Company of Heroes is great, but for $25 you'd probably be looking at a used copy. And if you've never tried the 'Total War' series, you might want to look into those.
You have 10 games, which really doesn't give us much to go on as far as what you like and don't like, but as far as RPGs go, I'd take Planescape: Torment, Baldurs Gate 2, Fallout 2, KOTOR, KOTOR2, or Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines over NWN, which is still a good choice.

Yes, the SP in those games should be better than in NWN. I rather liked the second expansion to NWN, and there are some interesting 3rd-party modules but the problem is that all the environments look very "boxy" or incoherent, which takes away immersion/atmosphere from the game.
Personally, I think KOTOR2 had better conversations/choices - the first one is much more black-and-white. The story is rather hard to fallow in the sequel, but it's still pretty fun.
Other PC RPGs worth purchasin you might find in the bargain bin would include Arx Fatalis (FPP, underground environment, cast spells by drawing runes with the mouse), Anachronox (console-like combat, Quake2 engine, comedy-sci-fi), Divine Divinity (diabloesque combat, world/inventory similar to Ultima VII and good dialogs/quests; the sequel - Beyond Divinity - is mediocre though).
