Need help naming our new puppy.

My fiance came home about a week ago with a new puppy. Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. Don't have a name. I don't want a "human" name or a name from food such as brownie, cookie, or such. Pic below. It is a female dog.

So far the only name we really have thought of is Backup because she will randomly back up for no reason and it is also the name of Veronica Mars's dog. But Brittany doesn't really like that much.

All suggestions welcome.

    It may just be yesterday's comic, but that picture is making me want to call her Hippo.

    I'd want to call her Hippolyta - Hippo for short.

    (I know you said no human names, but that is a Mytical human name, so maybe it gets a pass?)

    Surprised you didn't suggest Battledog. :)

    Ok, so liking the suggestions so far.

    Though I said I don't want human names, doesn't mean you can't suggest it.

    I like Bruiser, but I don't think she's going to go for it. I also like Widget, Pandora, Luna, and Smidgen. But I don't think she likes those much.

    Right now I'm pulling for Khaleesi. Since Queen is my favorite band, I can name her Queen without actually naming her Queen.

    Also thought about calling her hopper or something like that. She doesn't walk or run... she hops whenever she's playing. Like a bunny. Ooooh, bunny could be a cool name. :)

    Brittany and I just cannot come to an agreement on a name. Naming our child(ren) is going to be a big pain in the ass. :)

    ok i would totally just call it 'puppy' for a while.

    I dunno, I kinda like bunny. Or somethign similar.


    I usually, when i'm stuck on names for things, I will go to like babynames.com and look up a word.... for the meaning of the name and then go nuts from there.


    But honestly, she looks like a Carmel, or something sweet and delicious. Maple. Cinnamon. Latte.

    I really like the idea of Carmel. So cute! Or going with that theme, how about Cannelle. That's french for cinnamon.

    You say that she likes to hop everywhere. How about Thumper? Or Babs?

    I think I may have persuaded Brittany to name her Khaleesi (which means Queen in Dothraki from Game of Thrones).

    If we get a male dog in the future, I think we agreed to name it Deacon after John Deacon. I wanted to name this one something after Queen, but nothing really fit until I remember Khaleesi from the show.

    Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I liked a lot of them and suggested them to her, but she didn't like any of them. :( She wanted to name her something dumb like Lily or Lucy. I wasn't going to allow that!

    I would've gone for the character's name of Daenerys, rather than Khaleesi, but anything related to ASoIaF is all good in the hood, as they say.

    Also acceptable: Ghost, Summer, Lady, Nymeria, Grey Wind, and last (but definitely not least), Shaggydog.

    I was thinking Daenerys, but that sounds more like a name for a larger breed of dogs. Something like a retriever or husky of some sort. Daenerys sounds more regal than Khaleesi.

    I was also a big fan of naming her Lady or Sansa.

    I tried looking through WoT since I'm currently reading those books, but there are some god awful fucking names in there.

    Nyanaeve, Egwene, Siuan, Aviendha, Coiren, Nildra...

    Faceroll the keyboard and you have a name from the WoT series.

    Any WoT-themed name is incomplete without three ancillary paragraphs regarding the dark green eyes of the dog breeder's neighbor, and how she seemed to be in disinterested conversation with her blonde-haired friend, who was clothed in some type of religious frockery, while they ate fresh corn-on-the-cob that was glistening with buttery sheen.

    Yeah, I went there.
