Yeah.
Forget where I read it, but it's true. Going for a light tone makes it easier and more effective when you decide to go terrifying and brutal.
I mean, Animated had:
PTSD, being trapped in your body entirely paralyzed, body horror, an innocent man wrongly accused who went insane in prison, the most effective Megatron, and, right.
I still watch Prime but haven't been able to get excited about it. I really dislike the kids, they just annoy me to no end no matter what they're doing.
And it's dark. I mean literally. Everything is done in these murky tones that just aren't very enticing to look at. Plus, none of the settings or locales have been particularly interesting, it's mostly either taken place in Autobots' bland bunker, Decepticons' sparse, grey ship, or brown, rocky terrain.
And why oh why did they decide to keep BB's stupid no talking bit from the movies? Hey I know! Let's strip away any personality that he could have possibly had! That will help!
Ratchet is basically Animated Ratchet but less interesting, Optimus is all leadery and that's fine, Bulkhead's pretty much just Bulkhead from Animated, except without his interactions with BB he takes a hit. Arcee was a fine addition, she's been my favorite Autobot. On the Decepticon side, Starscream's been pretty good, and so has Breakdown. Megatron's been good and evil, and hopefully the dark energon plot picks up, because that's been fairly interesting.

A character doesn't need a voice to be entertaining. I'll admit he doesn't have a very distincitve personality, but he tends to be one of the more enjoyable autobots, especially in the fight sequences.
I've found him to be very entertaining despite not having a voice. I thought Animated Bumblebee was just annoying.
Bulkhead's pretty much just Bulkhead from Animated, except without his interactions with BB he takes a hit.
He's also less of a bumbling idiot. :P
Overall I think Prime is a much more action-driven show, which is just as well since it's timeslot has fewer restrictions on what it could and couldn't do. A Saturday morning show nowadays just cannot go very far with violence, which in my opinion really hurt Animated's potential.
Also, Animated's Optimus was kind of a downplayed asshole, but I don't really feel like going into that at the moment.

I picked up the novelization of Dark of the Moon because it was cheap and I figured it would have more robot stuff than the movies, which are sorely lacking. Also so I could find out what happens before the movie comes out.
It turned out to be pretty good; I enjoyed it. I won't say what happens, but I was like "whoa dude, holy cow" and stuff. It made me want to see the movie, which I didn't have any interest in before. I read it so I wouldn't have to see the movie, so it's telling that it ended up changing my mind.

Botcon happened
the new episode of Transformers Prime airs tomorrow
Breakdown's been captured by Clancy Brown and the Autobots have to save him
That was pretty great.
Why I fear the ocean.
I'll probably buy Roadbuster at some point but I don't really care otherwise
I guess there's that cartoon, but it's kind of dumb, plus they killed the rock in the first episode
it is the least terrible of all three movie games
the multiplayer is bare bones and it is missing some features from wfc and also it is kind of hard but that may be because I suck
rent it, or wait for a price drop
he's coming back in flashbacks
and also upcoming, Transformers #125 by IDW, THE DEATH OF OPTIMUS PRIME
written by James Roberts and John Barber, illustrated by Nick Roche
also the Punch/Counterpunch story is coming out after the dark of the moon comics are done
oh hey new Masterpiece Prime
Smaller than the original, with the trailer, axe, matrix, gun, and roller, in addition to a spike witwicky figure
interestinggg
Satans..... hints.....
The cartoon on Hub is pretty cool.
Yay! I'm actually quite enjoying Prime. Not quite got the same degree of excellence Animated had, but it's entertaining enough.
Coran Attack!
it takes a really long time to fill up a thread
just the old show with the same stories and scenes and lines and actors but with nice new animation
http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/generation-1-1/us-edition-masterpiece-rodimus-prime-revealed-172326/
no release date, nor a trailer, nor a widespread release
Toys R Us exclusive with a Targetmaster and the matrix that comes with Masterpiece Optimus Prime
Personally I think Prime is a much better show.
Like it's aiming at an older demographic, or something.
Animated was a neat show, but it was just too dang silly for me, more often than not.
and let's face it, animated has been pretty fucking dark
do I need to post the scene involving blurr and shockwave
I mean it's not as bad as the unicron trilogy
but ehhhhh

The good guys mass produced child soldiers.
I love it, and MAN it got dark when it wanted.

Go ahead, I haven't seen it.

He is basically the exact same character with a different voice actor, and he sounds slightly less old.
I like him.

Maybe I'm kind of the odd one out here, but I really liked the pilot. Particular the parts with Optimus and Megatron at odds.
