I live in a very hot area so I recently got a large high velocity fan (20"). It works great though I have some questions:
1) It has kind of a machine-y smell to it. Like you'd get in a car shop, perhaps? Not super huge or eye watering or something, but noticeable. Is this normal? Does it go away?
2) While it runs fine at high and middle settings, it makes a slight (but annoying) rattling at the lowest setting. Why would this be?
3) Someone mentioned some fans have oil ports for lubrication and I see what looks like a little hole with a pocket (think kangaroo) coming out of it. Is that an oil port? If so, how often should I oil a fan for peak performance?
