I'm trying to find a good MP coop game that isn't a shooter for either the Wii or 360.
These two systems are outside of my realm (hell I only have 1 game for the Wii), so any suggestions is appreciated.
I remember having fun with Marvel Ultimate Alliance, but don't get the Wii version. The camera is controlled by tilting the nunchuck, and EVERYBODY can move the camera. So if someone doesn't hold it straight up, the camera constantly turns.

Penny Arcade had a strip about a mario game that was cooperative. Should come right up if you search site:www.penny-arcade.com "divorce mode" in google.
Wii play for the Wii has one target shooting game and one tank game, but there are a few coop games there as well
Online or offline same-system? How many players? When you say shooter, are you offended by the actual shooting of manz (1st person like Left 4 Dead or 3rd person like Gears of War), or the perspective (1st person like Portal 2)? Are you playing with non-gamers? What sort of game are you looking for?
Castle Crashers, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade are all side-scrolling co-op beat-em-ups. Any of the LEGO games are great fun when played co-op. Sacred 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance are pretty good Diablo-like hack and slash games. While most people either love or hate the Fable series, the co-op is generally considered to be pretty good.
When does this comes out on the 360? This game is actually perfect for the audience I have in mind.
I don't know if there have been any dates announced.
It's gonna be awhile, though, it was revealed at E3.
Damn...that's a little too late.
Anyways, to give more background, this is a game for a couple who games a lot and haves their birthdays at around the same time. So this me being cheap and trying to get a gift that they can share together.
Unfortunately, one of the gamer really can't do FPS's. I think she's fine with third person shooters, but I don't think she's really into those kind of games. She's more into Cavestory like sidescrollers and Secret of Mana type RPG's. The other gamer enjoy games of all type.
Enternal Sonata is a CoOp RPG on the 360. Ive heard good things, but havent actually tried it yet. It kinda plays like Skies of Arcadia/Tales of Symphonia. Theres a demo available if you want to check it out.
My wife and I are big fans of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.
The hell, that game is coop? No wonder I am so bored playing it by myself.
Anyways any Diablo type game (Torchlight is on 360 right? No idea if they added coop for it, but there are others like Marvel) is amazing, TNMT from the NES is on the arcade as well.

Unfortunately no coop on 360 Torchlight. D&D Daggerdale is a recent XBLA title with coop, but had a lot of bad reviews and I wasn't sold with the demo. Dungeon Siege 3 is coming out this week and will have coop.
Just reiterating what others have said really. My wife and I had a lot of fun with the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games and all of the Lego games. New Super Mario Bros Wii is great if you want to break them up. Pretty much any Rock Band is good, but quite an investment if they don't already have instruments -- and of course always more fun with more people. Splosion Man was good, but can get frustrating if one or the other isn't good at platforming. Could never really get my wife into the coop in Fable 2, so not sure on that.

Spelunky HD comes out in a few months. Side scrolling randomly generated dungeon platformer. 4player coop.

Also, is there a way to gift someone a XBL:Arade game? I don't exactly have a 360...

You could buy them a points card and give them some recommendations for games.

Gamestop has some cards that are for specific games or content as well, so you could look and see what they have. I know I've seen the Summer of Arcade titles as well as Call of Duty add-ins. The only real advantage is you can pay for the exact amount without fidgeting with extra MS points left over, and it's a little less generic if you're not a gift-card giving person.
There's also a list of fighting games you could try I'm sure. Like Blazblue, or Arcana heart. Also, you can get a few games for the Playstation 3 now (because of the whole hackage internet). If you can trust Sony with your account for a couple hours, you can get Little Big Planet and Wipeout Pure for free.
Look into the racing games department as well, but becareful, alot only have online for some reason. Sega allstar racers isn't terrible, I hear.

Only one of those games that you listed is Co-op. The OP is giving this as a gift to someone else who does not have a PS3, and it's for a couple who intend to play together and not against each other.
Little big planet is still an option. Hmm Portal 2, Splosion man is a quirky little title that I'm pretty sure you can get on PSN. It looks like you already have scott pilgrim vs the world, but brawlers like castle crashers and Double Dragon are great too. Super Stardust HD also has a Co-op mode.
How much do you want to avoid Wii games? Because there's a much nicer library of co-op games for the wii...
All I can really think of for the PS3 are downloadables. There are just alot more quirky, fun, co-op downloadable titles... But I suppose it doesn't make much of a present. Still, just throwing out options...

Wow, two misunderstandings in a row. Yeah, I thought you were looking for a non shooter game specifically NOT for the WII or 360.
Aaanyway, for the WII or 360 you can get Super Mario Bro's Wii. Sonic Colors has a short story and alot of co-op missions. Then there's plenty of great games for download as well like Contra Rebirth. It's sort of a side scroller shooter, but it's 16 bit and classic and good old fashion fun, so it may or may not work for you. You can play Co-op in Super Smash bro's. There's also Zelda the four swords which is Co-op. But that would be a tough find, though Zelda collectors edition would be a fantastic gift, and I think that's in there.
Isn't the coop in that pretty archaic though? Like one player doesn't get to keep any progress and its kind of like the fable 2 system? Doesn't sound like very fun coop (going off of the PA comic a few days ago and other impressions i'd heard).
Depending on your definition of Shooter, you may want to look into Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. You do run around firing weapons, but it's geometry wars style shooting rather than "line up target within the reticule and pull the trigger" style, and the game has FANTASTIC coop puzzle solving. It was really a joy to play.
Super Smash Bros Brawl has a great versus mode, but also a passable co-op story mode. If one or both are into fighting games. As mentioned, Mario Kart Double Dash is awesome; if one person isn't a good racer, they can be fine at hurling shells. Also Animal Crossing, while not a co-op game per say, is great for a couple. Leisurely enough to take turns playing, plus interact with eachother's characters in town. Also Rock Band, but the start-up price may be a factor. Both of those last two games though should only be $20 now, so that's a plus.

Yeah, PA just did a comic two days ago explaining exactly why DS3 is a terrible choice for co-op.

It's even thematically perfect for couples.
Haven't seen it recommended, but Splosion Man is very good for co-op as well.

is that a good coop?
Though, i think it might be a bit too 'hardcore' for them....if Monster Hunter Portal was anything to go off of.

Done.
Just to get it straight, you want a Co-op game for the Wii or 360 that is not a shooter?
If so, do they have Wii Sports resort, or Mario kart, or Mario Party? because thats pretty much endless fun.
Accept no substitutes.
