Of all the families of Phalla, none were more insidious, none more malignant than the infamous Vlads.
- Portrait of Baron von Glovefucker Vlad, first known Vlad in recorded Phalla history
They were renown for their ability to extract information, torture subjects or outright kill them with specialist use of gloves. Once gloved, their victims were either never the same or dead.
The descendants of Glovefucker Vlad were notorious as well. No one could hide from the tracking gloves of Homing Vlad. Many were tricked by the deceptive gloves of Thrallvig Vlad. The most notorious Vlad of all though was...
The Mafia Immune Thrallconverter Vlad. With his Kool-Aid gloves he showed everyone why his Kool-Aid brings all the boys to the yard. While he chanted "Oh yeah!", his victims were screaming "Oh no!"
Thus, one of the cruelist roles of Phalla was glovefucked into the annals of Phalla history.

The Fifth Hour When it all comes down to dust
The moustachioed man smiled at the stories, nodding as each one was told. Of course, he also noted everyone who had pointed a finger at the doppleganger that was The Anonymous, who shook in fury as he was dragged off by the enforcers. There was no celebration for him, and there was barely anything left for Phalla; the man with the moustache shrugged his shoulders and said, "Perhaps this is what Phalla would have wanted. I believe we're done here."
There was still business to attend to, however.
As they started to make their way out, lonelyahava and Teucrian were walking side by side - of anyone in the event, they trusted each other the most, having known who the other was this entire game. Approaching the door, they were accosted by three nefarious mobsters - Farangu, Ringo, and Tayrun each held their tommy guns and snarled as they opened fire on the helpless masons, watching as they fell to the ground, spasming. The three mafia glanced at each other and smiled. Surely this would mean they were about to win - they had destroyed so many memories forever, they could control what everyone knew of Phalla from here.
Somewhere, 38thDoe was approached from the shadows, and offered a deal most fortuitous - a victory for all who had loved phalla, the return of their beloved friend. He did not need to know the costs, no, not at all, for any price was worth paying for the restoration of life into Phalla. He entered the shadows with his new friends, and with this newfound ally, Langly began the dark ritual.
Outside, Void Slayer and I needed a name to post stood together, the last remaining members of the village. They paused at the gate of the mansion for a moment, before twisting their heads as something came from the mansion - a song, the smell of burning incense and something far worse, something rotten that burned at the soul.
Thunder, lightning strike.
A wave of horror touched at everyone as whatever the darkness had been plotting came to fruition, primordial terror at a feeling that something that should not be had emerged, that the laws of life and death had been broken, the bitter harvest of what blasphemy against natural law had sown.
Langly emerged from the great doors of the hall, surrounded by his followers - Alegis, B:L, Delmain, jackisreal and 38thDoe - together with the fruit of the darkness.
A rotting corpse fuelled with something similar to life, its dead eyes glancing across the world. Bloated, unholy, it had been brought back in spite of its death, propelled by necromancy beyond what should have been its end; but no, it could never die. Not if they had anything to say about it.
Phalla had returned.

The living(?) PHALLA
Thank you all for playing.
I'll have some thoughts and other stuff up in a little while. If you have any questions, please, ask away.
Preemptive answer to the most likely question: I do not know why I am so terrible.
Our struggle has been long, and fraught with peril, but you, each of you, has played your role perfectly. Thanks to your efforts, we will bring life where there was none, we will send death back into the shadows from which it came. From few, there came many, till our numbers were strong enough to complete the ritual. Through the fires, we have come unscathed, as was prophesied so long ago. See there? Through the skylight, the eternal symbol of Dionysus himself gleams through the heavens. It is a sign! A Divine Proclamation!
And now, Phalla shall rise again! Strong! Hearty! Throbbing with Energy!
IT! LIVES! ONCE! MORE! THAT WHICH DEATH MADE FLACCID PUMPS WITH BLOOD AND LUST AND LIFE!

Mechanics
The suspicion mechanic that every player had was absolutely meaningless. Every answer to it was simply copied from a list of about ten vague answers that I had pre-prepared, and would cycle between in order to try and make sure nobody got the same answer twice. The fact that so many people called it a "seer" in their orders was the funniest part to me, especially when the mafia thought it actually did anything. It was more or less a parody of the whole "everyone is suspicious" thing in phalla, something I thought would have been realised a lot sooner.
The daily events were absolutely meaningless, as well - the items, the dinner, the head of the table, etc. They were just there to try and encourage some participation from people. It didn't quite work the way I had hoped.
There was one exception to that - B:L's vote-given item, the list of suspicious behaviour, was an overt clue that the suspicion mechanic was useless.
Roles
There were three variables randomly assigned to every player:
- Player name
- Adjective
- Role
This was done for several reasons, the most obvious being role call prevention. With every player in the game also being a role in the game, it meant that there was no need for cover roles, as everyone got the same initial PM, followed by an "extra" PM if they held a non-village role.
There was also a small bit of commentary in there - by making all the values entirely random, I avoided what I feel is a problem with most phalla-phallas, which is the fact that it raises some players as "special", and thus encourages the kind of cliqueiness that can be seen as existing in the game. Instead of saying "okay well gotta have Burnage as some fucked up mechanic, and here's Infidel and Blarney," etc, I simply gave value to whoever was playing, randomly. The fact that so many people expected Burnage and Infidel to appear in the game was reason enough to not have them as roles unless they actually signed up.
Props to the cultists for not managing to hit a mafia at all with their conversion and thus reveal their existence (aside from the constant hints in the narration by simonwolf).
Were there two guards?
Also I kinda chuckled at B:L successfully suspecting a couple mafia for "not being aware of the suspicion mechanic" when they were just posting kinda off and were entirely informed.
I think the luckiest thing for us was that I chose to convert B:L and not Teucrian as the second convert. If I had chosen Teucrian, we would probably have lost, because he was masoned and just would have died. I was pretty torn about deciding between them.
then the next choice was the seer B:L was in contact with, which actually wasn't a very good choice because I thought they would stay a seer, but they didn't. He lost his powers when converted. That was dumb of me. He had, however, successfully seered Jackisreal, which gave us our fifth. On that day, though, our luck was that the mafia did not hit B:L. I don't really know why they didn't. If they had, we would have been in trouble, but we were expecting it. Then he got approached by Name to Post, and at that point we were more concerned about one of the lesser profile converts getting hit by a random bullet.
So B:L used his mason connection to promise the mafia two definite network kills, which they went for, thankfully.
If would have totally helped if certian terrible specials didn't go completly HERPDERP and say they were "mafia immune" when their PMs clearly stated cultist immune. It would have been nice for them to announce that, and thus announcing there were conversions, when getting bandwagon'd. Such a reveal would have actually been believable.
But... HERPDERP.
Also, while there were clues for the cultists in the naraton, they were extremly minor and overshadowed by the utterly distracting pointless nightly events. If those weren't in there the village I think the village could have actually analized the naration for real event better.
But when you throw in obviously pointless shit into the naration, and have tons of fake mechanics in the game. it doesn't give incentive to analize the naration when you're most likely going to find just more fake and pointless stuff. Whoops?
While B:L played very well, I can't help but feel the Cultists had victory handed to them by the game mechanics.
I would disagree. If I had chosen incorrectly the second night, we would have lost. If I had ever converted someone who was mafia or masoned, we would have been boned. If the flurry of gunfire at first or the two mafia kills a night had killed any converts, we would have been screwed. If B:L had been killed when he should have been, we would have been fucked.
There was plenty of shit that could have very easily gone wrong.
Also Jayson did say he couldn't be converted. His PM probably said something like "you cannot be killed or converted", and that is exactly what he said. He conflated the two factions.
But when you throw in obviously pointless shit into the naration, and have tons of fake mechanics in the game. it doesn't give incentive to analize the naration when you're most likely going to find just more fake and pointless stuff. Whoops?

I'm not sure how I can be blamed for the village not reading.
Your sarcastic posting style sometimes makes it hard to tell if you're telling the truth (you confirmed vlads to me day 1 in IRC). But still, anybody could have read the constant narration hints of the cult and asked if there were conversions.

i never take anything you say seriously. or at least I always take it with a bowl of salt.
No, not reading the narrations because 'fuck these mechanics' is a dodge.
One that I'm guilty of. As well as also trying to play when I knew I shouldn't have.
But no, the village not reading the narrations is the villages fault.
Good playing on the Cult, they got the players that they should have. When they should have. It was a well played game and now that I'm slightly less dramatic in my head, fairly well designed to do what it was supposed to.
I just didn't play it the way I should have, or would have had situation been optimal.
This was meant to be a solemn affair, and instead you've come to realise that there's intrigue all around, conflicting motivations, desires and schemes which don't have you in the winning portion. You can't do much about it, of course, until duty truly calls - that is to say, when the first guard dies, you will take their place, their sacrifice enabling you to protect others in the same manner they did. Of course, this can only happen once a guard has joined phalla in death. Still, at least you can do your part?
After the death of the first guard in the game, every day, you may select another player. They will be protected from death for the night - as long as that death didn't come from the vote.
Honestly? I noticed that the narration was mentioning the whole "more join the ranks" thing. But in my infinite naivety I thought that this was in reference to the deceased, and that there was going to be a mechanic with those who had died later, tying in with the funeral theme.
