Minor news scandal of the day in NZ: Head of Manufacturers Association posited that woman's pay and productivity may be affected by regular period related sickness absence. He later apologised and tried to qualify the statement, as per usual, acknowledging he had no figures or proof to justify his opinion

my dad spent like 5 minutes asking me why she was having sex with her nephew (the king's squire, I think it's her nephew). he just couldn't believe it.

luckily that's vague as hell ahaha
sort of spoilery (no one else look) but no issue I can live with that
not your fault I just saw the post before the edit and hoped you were referring to the first book or series. and it actually seemed like you were

Did he also comment on the lost productivity that occurs when women attract bears with their periods?

okay, I think I may finally have finalized the plot for my Bioware writing sample
now, to figure out how to make it into an actual Mass Effect-style script
each of Shepard's lines needs a dialog-wheel phrase and probably some voice direction
and the structure for making the dialog tree
wait
are you trying to be a writer for bioware
yes
you have zero, absolutely none, applicable skills or relevant experience to be working as a professional writer. and yet you are trying to break into an industry that 1) is notoriously difficult to get into even with years of experience and applicable college degrees and 2) further, trying to get into one of the most competitive companies in that field
oh also they have a shitload of writers already. like, ones who make professional money writing books

With 9,000,000 dialogue wheel choices and zero gameplay.
at this point most of the time when someone makes a dumb ghost sex joke I just flip off the screen
So... After a few a few months of being back here, this is what I've gathered:
You wrote a story in which a person got their sex-on with a ghost. What's so wrong about that? At least two 80's movies contain the same thing and one of them is even good!

So I'll be rejected. How is that any different from every other job I've applied for over the last year? At least I'd enjoy doing this.

imean if you want to get into the video game industry? get a degree in CS. learn how to code in C++, it bein industry standard. then be prepared to move to california, and to get some shitty 60 hour a week joe job as a programmer for like EA redwood
or, get a writing degree, get a bunch of papers published, and actually accrue 1) a relevant degree and 2) a body of work to legitly work as a video game writer
Rent is a firm believer in tough love. In this situation it's not particularly helpful, especially considering my already barely-existent optimism considering job applications, but he's not trying to be a dick.
because trying without even an ounce of effort or thought given into what such an endeavour actually entails is literally pointless. and whatever effort hes putting into this could be better spent on almost anything else.
imean yeah we all have our dreams but at some point we have to sit down and realize that it aint happenin and itd be better to focus on reachable goals

Tough love? Is Dan Savage among us? Am I suddenly going to get my ass pounded by a guy while he shouts that unlubed condoms are best against STDs?
Oh, speaking of drunk, I'm drinking OldE, eating pizza rolls and watching the 'Critters' movies all of them.
I feel good about this.
Also: hey, Rivs
What you are doing is either the best thing, or the worst thing.
It certainly isn't in the mediocre middle.
