Superman #712 was the Busiek/Leonardi Krypto issue from 5 years ago, and it works very well as a mostly silent issue, primarily because it has a lot of panels, and Leonardi really nails Krypto being really sad. Really touching and conveys a lot with very little, and it's 22 pages because that was the style at the time:

And Krypto tries to find Superman but can't because he's off world powerless at the time, so Krypto takes his manhole cover frisbee and goes out into space, making an asteroid his doghouse.


Thunderbolts #159, good double sized issue worth the money, the Tieri part was probably the weakest because it added nothing new, but Mr. Hyde has a nice moment in the main story along with Ghost and Walker being the odd couple (add Blazing Skull and they could be the new three amigos!):

edit: Batman: Gates of Gotham #2, incredibly strong story, lovely art, really good narrative with a twist I don't think people will see coming. And Damian is such a jackass to Cass, it makes the way he acts to Stephanie seem chivalrous:

    Thor was good. Lois Lane was alright. Ducktales was iffy. Dark Horse Presents was bad.

    MOTW definitely being the panel of Galactus next to the moon landing. Just a cool thing, also goes along with how silver surfer was saying that humans can do so much more

    Wells and Crain's Carnage mini wrapped up today, it was pretty awesome to see Cletus at the wheel once again doing his "thang". But I really liked this part, even if it's just another character we probably won't see much of in the future.

    The Carnage symbiote spawned again and the doctor's bio-mech arm bonded with her. She "put down" Shriek afte hacking her brain and forcing her to hit Carnage with a full power sonic scream and saved the day. She's currently under observation at Stark Industries (or Stark Resilient), the new symbiote doesn't like Spider-Man very much.

    ...that both he and the current Venom are now missing legs.

    It's probably inevitable that they'll fight at some point.

    In the previous issue of Ultimate Comics Avengers vs New Ultimates, Fury was shot full of bullets. The way he survived?, he made Tyrone Cash (The first hulk, in the ultimate universe), give his team hulk pills, that granted them the ability to hulk out when they wanted to for 24 hours. It's as awesome as it sounds

    Ultimate Spider-Man 160, was a really solid end, and the whole arc seem to give almost all of Peter's supporting cast a moment, here's MJ's from the last issue

    found a couple of calvin and hobbes collections donated at my library today

    nabbed those suckers as soon as I got my metal claws on them, so they could not break free

    because they're made of metal, and robots are strong

    Really enjoyed Thunderbolts. The Ghost and Mr Walker was great cos frankly I love seeing Ghost interacting with anyone, but I really enjoyed the opening story. Fleshing out the Underbolts motives nicely.
    And my Shocker moment of the issue was you ask?

    So proud.

    I choose to believe the last panel in this story and that he really, really wants to be a hero on the inside. That and maybe a touch of loyalty to Mach V will keep him from bailing.

    Still haven't gotten Tbolts (tomorrow for sure). I did get Hulk 35 and Rocketeer Adventures 2. Rocketeer is very enjoyable. Geof Darrow has a two-page pinup of the Rocketeer shooting up the cockpits of a squadron of Luftwaffe fighters with a pair of Thompsons, and one of the stories is all Darwyn Cooke (except that the colors for all parts and pinups are by Dave Stewart) where R's girlfriend Betty (Page, basically) is flying the rocket in black lingerie. Mark Waid has another story, too, which is also fun, but a bit meta. No giant gorilla samurai this time, though. :(

    Next week: Nazis in the Hospital!

    Like Sandman, he'll never be one of the good guys. Classic Spider-Man villains will always return to their original status quo in the end.

    By classic villains, I meant the ones people actually cared about and remember. ;-)

    Not old villains that completely failed to leave a mark on Spider-Man's rogue gallery.

    There are always going to be writers that want to use classic baddies like Shocker, Rhino or The Vulture. Shocker will never hit a lull big enough to the point where anybody would honestly consider turning him into a full time hero.
