Annoying photo dilemma

So my DSLR for some reason is saving 3 copies of every picture i take.

When i dump them onto my computer this becomes super annoying. I dont see 3 of each actually in the camera's interface, just on my computer after i copy them.

First i guess how can i stop this annoying shit from happening?

And second is there a nice quick way to delete every photo in a folder that contains brackets in the names? every duplicate has a bracketed number. for example the original copy is DSC_0002.jpg and then i also have DSC_0002 (815).jpg and DSC_0002 (814).jpg

did you accidentally turn bracketing on?

I imagine some sort of regular expression would have your back for selective deleting, some combination of ls, grep, rm and pipes. Although my kung fu is weak with regards to actually doing it although hopefully that will help you on the way to googling a decent answer

Is one overexposed and another underexposed? If so, you could have HDR turned on by accident.

If you're on windows Vista or 7, go to that folder and type "(" on the search bar. That should give you all the copies.

The copies appear identical and when i was shooting it wasnt taking rapid-fire shots.

I'm going to try to search the directory via *(*)*.jpg

edit: that deleted the annoying dupes but my camera is still making them

Try setting you camera back to factory settings the redoing whatever personal settings you like. It may have just gone wonky for whatever reason electronics and technology do. Personally I blame gremlins, they muck everything up those gremlins!
