Silent Storm Multiplayer

I figured out a way to play hotseat multiplayer games of S2. Unfortunately, I haven't completely figured it out, so if anyone has any more info, please enlighten me.

To access this mode, add the line "wirbelwind" to the end of your autoexec.cfg file in the Silent Storm/cfg/ directory. This will allow you to use the console by pressing the tilde (~) key.

Open the console and type "multiplayer" this should open up hotseat mode. You can set up 4 player games (including ai) choosing the team members and their weapons (you can even change the tech level to allow the most advanced weapons)

HOWEVER, in the top left corner you are supposed to choose the map, and I don't know how to. I found out that you're supposed to enter a sequence of numbers in order to generate a map, but all I can get is a square of flat ground. Does anyone know how to generate a map that's not a flat square? If anyone would like to try this out and see what they can figure out, please do so.

Well this just made my day.

I always thought the big thing S2 was missing was multiplayer.

    And working skill points.

UPDATE: After much research, I found that you weren't supposed to type in numbers to generate a map, you were supposed to enter the name of the map (which happens to be a bunch of numbers). With a bit more research I found these maps, which can be used for the Hotseat Multiplayer mode.

4412 - Great for hotseat up to 4 players
4413 - Great for hotseat but only if all 4 are playing (if only 2 play, pick the slots 1 and 4)
4414 - Great for 2 players, also playable with 3 or 4 but not that great
3966 - Looks good but no play value (spawns too close)
629 - Playable but far from good. Only for 2 players.
4307 - No no no. Doesn't work in hotseat because of the civilians and scripted things.
4350 - Well in theory up to 4 players can play this
1252 - Not good (spawns too close)
1834 - Not good (spawns too close)
1877 - Not good (spawns too close)*
1999 - Not good (spawns too close)
2075 - Not good (spawns too close)*
2220 - Good LONG games but only for 2 players
2260 - Also good LONG games but only for 2 players
    2322 - Ok with 2 players
2328 - A bit unfair but still playable for (only) 2 players
2384 - Not good (spawns too close)
    2437 - Good/great for 2 players only
2483 - Not good (spawns too close)
2492 - Not good (spawns too close)
2493 - The difference is that this map actually has potential but unfortunately spawns are way too close
2584 - A bit unfair but still playable for (only) 2 players
2604 - Not good (spawns too close)

Someone should bust open the editor and rearrange some of the spawns on the maps and set em up for hotseat.

Can one play a single-player map with a person controlling each squad member?

Speaking of that, whenever I try to use the map editor, it doesn't work. The editor won't even open. Suggestions?

Installing and setting up the editor is a fairly complex process involving setting up a database. There are guides out there, it should work if you follow those. It's got a bit of a learning curve but seems pretty powerful.
