How and where to sell my skill?

I've got a back-catalog of music that I've made. I have an interest in making new music for people's work, including videos, websites & games.

How would I go about offering my skills for compensation? All I can think of is the Services section on Craigslist. What would be the best way to get my name and material out there so I can get hired to lend my craft to a creative project? I'm coming up with blanks.

    You're going to probably need a reel/resume of people who've already used your work. I'd hook up with local independent film and television people, work for free as most do on those projects (to start with), and then move from there (how I'm not sure, but you do need proof of concept).

    That's what I'll do, I'll edit together a reel of some of my work and start a resume.

    Do you know any websites or forums that have people actively looking for talent, or should I do some research and go to various entertainment company websites and just e-mail them my credentials?

    How you go about this is going to depend on where you live and what kind of work is already being done in your area.

    @tardcore:
    have you considered lending your talents to iOS games?

    On the Toucharcade forums, there is a section where developers gather to discuss projects, and also artists can advertise, or see posts made by devs looking for talent.

    If you contribute to a game that gets published, and is successful, it'll look great on the resume.

    GrooveZoo.com allows for collaboration between musicians, but more importantly it also allows you to sell services and rights. The free account would let you use it and see what you think about it, and if it looks promising, you could upgrade your account.

    http://audiojungle.net might be a good place to look at.

    I've sold a few bits of code through one of it's sister sites.
