I have two Yeti microphones that I would like to be able to hook up to one computer for the sake of recording a podcast. Now I seem to only be able to record from one at a time, which is a bit of a problem. I don't necessarily need them to be two separate audio streams (although if they can be, that is preferred) but as there will be four people recording on it, having 2 people per mic is a lot more manageable than having four people on one.
When I go to set default recording devices, I can see that both are picking up sound, but I can only set one to default, which then stops allowing incoming sound from the other.
I have done quite a bit of searching for an answer to this, but nothing helpful has come from it. I am willing to use a certain piece of software or something if that is required.
Something like this help at all? Basically just plug them all in and open multiple recording programs set to each device? Dunno how viable this actually is, but its what came up in Google.
I think what you want is some multi-track recording software. I use Reaper (http://www.reaper.fm/) for a lot of my pet projects, and it's been working smoothly. The free trial is 30 days, and it's a full version of the program. If you like it, a personal license is only 40 dollars. Dirt cheap for powerful software like that.
You'll want to set up a separate track for each mic, do your recording and then mix it down for your podcast release.
