I think some speeding up could be used though - an hour is a fair bit of time. Maybe speeding up some of the drawing, then going to normal speed for five minutes or so as each 'stage' of drawing nears completion?

I'm in the opposite boat. Watching the sped up stuff can be neat as a novelty, but that'd probably get old after a couple of episodes. Real time drawing gives way more context and attention to the process. I think that's better, because honestly, this is entirely indulgent in the process and isn't consistently going to get the same number of viewers as other PATV projects either way.
I found the whole process fascinating, and hope it continues in its present state. When you're watching somebody do something extremely well, at least for me, and hour flies by.

I can't stand the music in this. It's overbearing and distracts from the video.

Man this is neat and all, but not being an art person, I kind of wish they'd put the same amount of time into recording the "writing" process for each comic. I know they have the 4th panel, but that's like 1 comic every 3-4 weeks.
I don't really care about the editing for the video, just record the whole thing. They could just put a camera with a fisheye lens in the corner of the room and some hidden microphones. Hell, just record the audio and bring back the podcast and I'd be happy. Maybe delay these by a few weeks in case they want to edit the footage for a 4th panel.
I miss the podcasts. I also miss the DnD sessions, but I guess that involves getting Will up for games. And maybe Vin Disel.
That came up in a Q&A, I think, and the answer surprised me. I can't remember word for word, but the gist of it was that the Acquisitions Incorporated podcasts were strictly under the WotC umbrella, and it wasn't something they could do on their own. Wizards has to want to do more in order for it to happen. Gabe and Tycho were a little surprised (as usual) that there was such a demand for more of them, and said they would consider doing some DnD in-house, either in podcast or PATV format.

Yeah. At the start I was charmed by the chiptune renditions, but after we start hitting the 20-minute mark and it's been blaring on, and then starts to repeat (or so it sounded), I muted the video and put some stuff from the Minecraft soundtrack on instead. Quite fitting, too.
If anything, Gabe's skill shown off in this video is borderline infectious. After watching it and copying some techniques, I'd say my own artwork has improved just by watching him. I'm certainly a lot less frustrated when I can't get a line just right, making gratuitous use of the Undo button(s) as Gabe liberally does in this video.
I'm more than a little jealous of his ability to be able to colour things in in a heartbeat, though. I have to resort to the "scrub away with the Paintbrush tool" technique.

i liked that, even if i only got in every fifth time
And the Ustream channel was just posted to the front page of the site.
edit:
(Also, I didn't see it on the first two pages, so I just assumed it hadn't been threaded yet.)

Has it been dropped?
we can only hope
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
Haha! Yes. I laughed out loud when he got to that part on Tycho's shirt.
It is just lulling us into a false sense of security. The next time PATV needs filler, when we least expect it, BAM.
I liked Ledo and Ix
Well, admittedly I was being unkind.
What we really have to keep our guard up against is a surprise return of Mega64.
For thousands of years it slumbered beyond the firewall, biding its time as the watchers grew fewer and forgetful.

Me too, but it's harder to monetize, synergize, and stratergize an audio podcast than it is a video.
probably pay a small subscription fee for the podcasts

But, I imagine they are way more into their respective web shows.
It's really really really good.
what a weirdo

wow, that sucks
I really hope they can do a game of gamma world
