Steam is fucking up?

So I checked my Steam downloads and I saw that Left 4 Dead 2 is 'suspended'. I'm not sure what that means, so I try closing Steam and restarting it. I get this error message several times:

Steam.exe (main exception): Cannot open blob archive file: CMultiFieldBlob(mem-mapped file): Failed to open file

and then a 'cannot connect to the Internet' message, then finally it opens. Left 4 Dead 2 downloads for 30 seconds and then goes Suspended again.

So I decide fuck it and try to open Team Fortress 2. Get the same error message as before.

Get the error message again upon trying to restart Steam

Any idea what is causing this and how to fix it?

They are having problems. I had the suspended issue for the last 20 mins, but everything is working again. A bunch of people in the G&T Steam thread can't even make purchases and gifts are taking 20ish attempts to get through.

Make sure your hard drive isn't running out of space.

They're seriously over taxed with the summer sale going on right now. This may just solve itself when things quiet down again.

Had trouble last night downloading and patching a number of things in my library. Between the sale and TF2, they're probably just getting explodinated for a short period.

I just wanted to add that there's also been problems with their email sending. My bf gifted me a game, I never got an email for it. He logged in with a different browser or something and they locked him out, had to get a verification code off an email... which was never ever sent. They were/are having some issues.
