Well this is a huge surprise! Chocobolicious gifted my the Oddboxx
And I just tried Strangers Wrath, it automagically works with the 360 pad! There's no actual sensitivity tweaking of the camera but it is absolutely fine. And that has the be the best damn opening cut scene I've seen in a long time.
RE: 360 controllers on PC. Do knockoffs like Madcatz get recognized by most games as a 360 controller or as a generic gamepad? Mainly curious if games with 360 pad only support would work with them without outside software/constant fiddling.
I don't know about the 360 version, but I do know the wireless PS3 Madcatz is read as a generic controller.
I'm not sure if you can use the 360 Madcatz pad on games that natively support the 360 controller. I could try this, but I never saw a particular benefit to doing so, as the PS3 one works fine and is also wireless.
Okay, it's time for my first Cthulhu Saves the World + Breath of Death VII code giveaway!
I'm giving away 3 codes (well, technically 6 since you need a code for each game) right now. First three people who post in this thread requesting them will get a PM from me with the codes.
I sent you a PM about possibly reviewing those games, so I hope you still got spare codes for me.

If I miss capturing points during missions in the DoW2 campaign, can I eventually go back to those missions and cap them? I just moved on to Typhon and still have a couple points in Calderis to cap, but I seemingly can't select the necessary missions at the moment. I also received a message during one mission that said I didn't have enough field generators or something and couldn't cap stuff because of this. Are my difficulties linked to this?

You can only get one of those per mission, and I am pretty sure you get multiple chances to get them all.
There is a bigass tutorial over on Egosoft's forums. I can try to get you the direct link later if you want.
Oh thank god, I'll take a look. The game is beautiful, though. I think it'll replace Escape Velocity nicely.
Only... are there any other people here? Like, EV was always kinda empty, but there were little messages from other traders and little storyline bits that amounted to "fly here, see some text, fly there" but personalized things a bit.

Just got a whole bunch of review codes for CSTW & BoDVII.
If you're a reviewer at a website who would like to cover the game, send me a PM or email me at rdespair at gmail dot com, and I'll hook you up. If you're not a reviewer, but would still like a copy, I'll be posting a few codes in the Steam thread later today, so stay tuned.
No! I'm buying mine and you can't stop me. You monster.

It feels like it would be such a waste to just purposely crash to end it now

It is still probably one of the best games I've ever played. I remember playing original EV shareware and getting wasted by their weird copy-protection pirate ship constantly.
I really really love the simple route-planning and RPG mechanics, and I would kill for a straight updated version of that with more features. X3 is pretty neat, but frankly I could do without all this flying around in actual 3D space stuff :P.
Edit: Hahaha it's still selling for $30 on the Ambrosia website. Fuck you, guys.

This is about X3 and PAs crappy non-mobile browser support mangled the quote tree.
I read a PDF today that amounted to a collection of forum posts kludged into a manual, but I came away from that feeling like x3 could give you a really good immersive, emergent experience. Especially the guy that set a rule on his game of "no buying ships." at one point he had to find a derelict vessel, use it get some money, then basically scare the AI pilots out of their ships to gain more. It was a good read watching all that happened to him while doing this.

Straight update? You mean Escape Velocity: Nova? I mean, that's about as straight update as you can get.
Also, the 'copy-protection pirate ship' was named Hector, I want to say.

Dammit dammit dammit.
Just wondering - was the first clue really just a series of random numbers? I'm using a Firefox browser and I just realized there must be more to the first clue than I thought.
Heh, I feel like such a nerd. I knew what the first clue was instantly. But then, I used to hold alt and use the numpad to draw pictures manually as a kid.
The second and third numbers being the same, as well as the sixth and seventh, were another huge giveaway.
I got stuck at the next step, though. I tried to skip it, and figure out the identity of the stuff in the zip file by comparing file sizes, but it would take me another six hours to finish downloading all the graphics from steampowered.com. Ah well.
Before this thread gets closed and we move on to YET ANOTHER Steam thread I'd like to throw in a thanks to the ever so classy rikdaly for gifting me Terraria.
He did it yesterday but I couldn't redeem till I got home, so the thanks is a little late but no less sincere.

Gracias

Thats why you just go buy the original off of GoG and play some of that. Such a good game. Some awesome mods too.
