While I don't think it was the case of Dejobaan's, it appears not all the achievements are chosen by the developer. The Lead and Gold guys said they needed to add achievements to be part of the summer dealio, and they added a few, some for the more hardcore fans of the game, and had no control over what got picked as the actual summer ticket.
Hey, anyone know how portal 2 co-op level selection works? does it only have access to the levels both players have completed, or does it just depend on the host?
In my experience, you can access any level either player has gotten to, but there are consoles in the hub that show whether each player has completed that section.

Ah, good, now to just find someone who has access to the propulsion gel chamber 6 for the (upcoming) ticket
When I started playing video games it was the SNES and 2d platformers. That was all fine and dandy until the PSX and I was introduced to the turn based RPG. I never looked back. Unfortunately that love was not shared by this generation of gamemakers, leaving me with an average final fantasy and an odd little gun-fu title on my PS3. I've also discovered as I turned more and more to my computer for gaming that it was a genre almost nonexistent. I've found some cool little gems like kings bounty (more of an SRPG as I understand it) but my favorite genre of gaming is sorely lacking.
How worth it is Last Remnant for someone in my position? Even if it probably breaks my budget for the rest of the sale?
Pre-release stuff looked good, 360 reception was bad, things where changed for PC, current reception is ???

So I have self imposed limit remaining of $69 (heh)
I have the Total Way bundle and The Last Remnant in my cart. I'm also contemplating Mafia 2 (and 1).
Is Mafia 2 worth it? Should I hold off with a larger amount in my wallet for the last real day of sales? This is my first sale, so do they hold all the good stuff for tomorrow? I already have Portal 2.
My backlog is massive, but the Mafia games look somewhat interesting. Are they linear? Do I need to play the first one to understand the 2nd? Have then been cheaper before? Sorry if these questions have already been asked, haven't caught up on the thread yet.
Where to start with Splinter Cell? I've never played any of them.
The comments in the last thread have convinced me to pick up Conviction and Chaos Theory, but are the earlier games worth picking up? Is there a strong plot line running through all of the games?
I could be wrong but I don't think the two build on each other so playing the 1st isn't required to understand the second. I;ve also heard the first isn't great.
The second one is good though. It's a pretty solid story set in a sandbox city. It's divided into chapters and some chapters give you more freedom to roam around and do whatever, while others push you along the story (like the one I'm on started with a secondary figure showing up and us starting on a job of the mafia variety).
It's really driven by the story and as far as I know doesn't have a ton of random side missions you find in sandbox games like GTA, unless they start showing up later in the game

Not really, it is pretty generic, the only standout being the actual character of Sam Fisher, who more or less owes his awesomeness to having Micheal Ironside as his voice actor.

The Universe Sandbox is a pretty sweet little astrophysics simulation/toy/thing.
You know what it just taught me? The Solar System is fucking HUGE and light doesn't travel anywhere near as fast as I had conceptualized.
You link your youtube account to steam (go to community, your profile, view videos, it'll have a screen telling you what to do). You then upload a video from your youtube account to your steam account.

The first game is kick-you-in-the-balls unforgiving, and on the PC version you won't see any shadows. Something about modern video cards not being compatible. Shadows are kind of important in this game.

Hows the action in Mafia II? Since it seems mainly about story bits + driving + shooting a lot of guys, I'd want the actual shooting and driving to be pretty solid.

Keeping in mind that driving is 3/4 of the game, then yeah.

I never thought I'd see the day where Last Remnant actually went on sale. Although they seem to want to hide that fact by not showing it on the main daily deal display area.

Awesome, thanks. Thought it had to do with TF2 at first, then thought maybe they'd snuck in a FRAPS-like video recorder without me noticing :P

So, I bought Chaos Theory and it's just as awesome as I remember it being on the Xbox, but has Sam always been this goofy looking?

It's been on sale before, but it could stand to be a little cheaper.
Holy crap. I just did my bi-annual manual (as in checking my account transactions through the Steam client) accounting of how much my account is worth and I'm just shy of $900.
Granted, that's spread out over 180 games and three years but how did that happen?
Edit: That actually ends up being about a third of what that Steam Calculator spits out.

At least with Steam you have 10 times as many games as you would get buying new games at retail price.

the one on ddgamer works much better as it calculates sale prices and packs
I'm surprised the Red Faction sale isn't a franchise one, although I guess if they did that everyone would snap up Guerrilla and skip the inferior sequel.
Hoping for a crazy Valve sale tomorrow, then maybe I can finally play Half-Life 2
crazier that this? that's a pretty crazy price for all that goodness if you ask me
Yeah I'm not sure how much cheaper you can expect it to get. £25 for every valve game ever is crazy, if I didn't already have 90% of those games I'd have snapped it up.

It would be neat if there was a Metacritic score filter on it. Then you could ask it to pick a AAA game for you.

Told me that too. Going to assume it's a malicious script.
8-)
It wanted me to play hydrophobia for whatever that's worth

Yeah, the whole "light pulse" feature really does not give me a positive outlook on the future of deep space travel.

Yeah, now I understand that wry look that astrophysicists get when the topic turns to interstellar travel in those PBS documentaries.
At least we have plenty of room here in the Solar System.
