Ring of Pain (DVD Cleaning)

Okay, so here's the story. A friend of mine recently gave me a copy of Fable 3 for the 360, much to my happiness. After skipping home from playing some Magic with my other friends, I eagerly placed the game into the 360's tray and sat down to play a game I've been foaming at the mouth for. The game is recognized, it starts up, and before I can even start up a new game on my profile, I get the dreaded "Cannot Read Disk" prompt. I take the game out and glance over it. Wow, talk about poor care. There's a ring of scratches (perfectly formed, might I add) in the middle of the data tracks all the way around the disk. Upon further investigation, my friend informs me that he dropped his 360 months ago and had to get a new disk drive...take a wild guess which game was in the disk drive when he dropped it?

So, here's my question. What can I do to clean this bad boy? The reflective backing is perfectly fine, and at least it recognizes the game. In the past I've used toothpaste to remove some annoying scratches that cause games/cds to skip, but this one appears to be pretty gnarly. I've heard a few things from the interwebs about Brasso. I spoke to my dad about using Brasso, as he used it quite a bit when he was younger, and he informed me that it probably wouldn't do the trick...but the interwebs can't be wrong, can it? I've seen testimonies from thousands of people claiming that the stuff works wonders.

It's definitely fixable, I just need something to buff that perfectly formed ring of scratches out of the plastic. Tips, suggestions, comments? Would REALLY love to start Fable 3 sometime today or tomorrow as I've just recently beat Fable 2 a few days go. Any help is greatly appreciated.

There's bound to be somewhere in San Antonio that has a buffing machine they'd charge you likely ~$3.00 to buff a disc. Look for any CD/Record store, DVD Rentals, et cetera.

I've tried to repair a couple of discs like that with one of those disc repair things (the ones with the hand crank) and it didn't work. Moving a 360 while it's on can really destroy discs. I ended up getting them replaced by the warranty, I think (EA covered it).
