The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Oh man I am watching the DVD right now. It is so good. Having seen Letters From Iwo Jima earlier this evening, I'm pretty much in cinematic bliss. (Of course, this is all pretty much an attempt to get the horrid taste of Ghost Rider out of my mouth.)
ITT we discuss Scorsese and why he is amazing.
Please don't bring up Bringing Out the Dead because Ghost Rider fuckstick man was in that.
Jack Nicholson was awesome.
The whole cast was awesome, before this year I used to hate Leonardo DiCaprio but after seeing him in Blood Diamond and this I respect him so much.

HEADSHOT!

I don't wanna kill anybody. I don't like bullies. I don't care where they're from.
I just got back from an 810 showing of smokin aces
its pretty excellent, and it has everybody in hollywood in it
and by excellent i mean very entertaining, not something extremely epic like children of men
I went to see that movie precisely because I wanted to watch Ben Affleck dick around in a movie that didn't take itself too seriously, because this in general is where he shines. Most of his roles in Kevin Smith's movies are good examples of this.
Needless to say, I was less than entertained.

But to be honest the ending kind of pissed me off. It was a good ending, but yeah.
I was so pissed for like two minutes.
I'm the type of person who gets sucked into a movie, so the twist at the end was a blow not only because it shook me, but because I dug the Costigan character a lot. I felt cheated at first because the movie was so engrossing and you grow to like the good guys so much. Then I sat back and let it sink in, and I've come to really like the ending.

Yeah seriously.
I actually shouted out in anger when Costigan got killed. I mean after making it away from the rooftop where martin sheen got killed, I kinda thought he was going to make it.
It was good on the whole, the acting was especially awesome. Me and My friends have taken to emulating Walberg's mode of trash talk.
HOWEVER.
The last frame, how has this not come up yet?
The rat scampering across the railing with the state house in the backround.
With this last frame I felt like Scorsese was an adult explaining symbolism/metaphor/thematic elements to a child, it was stupid and clumsily blunt. For the last thought of the film this was pretty weak, it detracted from my enjoyment of the film a great deal after further rumination.
I will be renting and or buying this DVD post-haste as I missed it in Theatres. I love Scorcese. I even loved Gangs of New York but that was mostly due to me loving Day-Lewis. I mean, in that film his acting was fucking epic.
So, I was over at J.Grant's this weekend and we sat through The Ninth Gate with Johnny Depp; it was crap. Thankfully, Deadly Advice wasn't a total loss.
I need to go and get The Departed this week, I think. Even if it's only half as good as everyone says, it's still better than half of the crap that gets shoved down my throat by Hollywood.

Eastwood is cool, but he's already won once.

STEAM!
Hold on, let's not go crazy.

I know, i've seen it too and it's great. But Casino is better.
My thoughts exactly.
I'm adding you to the list of cock punches.
It wasn't better than either of those movies alone.
It's really good though.
and i love gangster movies
And you call yourselves the Internet.
I The Departed
I haven't seen it. I sort of want to. I mean... I know what happens now.
oh man, my brain just thought BOOGIE NIGHTS so fast it hurts
Probably one of my favouritist movies ever.
Because this movie was better.
Fuck everyone who says different.
But to be honest the ending kind of pissed me off. It was a good ending, but yeah.
This movie was satisfying
Mr. Nicholson plays evil dudes really well.
I was so pissed for like two minutes.
Yeah seriously.

I'm not kidding when I say this, I'm glad my father saw it before he died
I certainly would want to
The Departed is overrated.
At best it's average.
I pretty much agree.
The ending was kickass.
All these assholes with their "different tastes than mine" bullshit.
