New kitten - what to do?

My housemate just got an 8wo kitten who has not been fixed or received any of its shots. Medically, what needs to be done, and on what timeline, to get this kitten squared away?

Medically, call a vet. The shots will all be on a schedule over (I think) the first year or so, and if the kitten is female, should be spayed around 6 months old... preferably not sooner than that.

Will this be an indoor cat or an outdoor cat?

    Please say "indoor".

Yeah, just call a vet. Tell them you're clueless and they'll hold your hand for you.

Also, to echo what Ceres said. Indoor only please.

Of course, indoor cat. Outdoor cats are too gamey. >:-)

See if the pet store will exchange it for a dog.

Some of the vaccinations are not quite as pressing for an indoor cat, and you're so much less likely to have it come back one day with some strange disease or infection.

Also, in accordance with the unwritten rules of this forum, all pet threads - especially baby-pet threads - require that pictures be posted.

The rule is unwritten. I will have to fix that one of these days.
