i need to order a new one like, tomorrow, before my trip on saturday
i'm on my 3rd kindle, and while i'm not sure it's my fault that my first 2 kindles' screens froze or got broken (amazon replaced for free, phew), i wouldnt be surprised
all i had was a timbuk2 case, which is soft, and i doubt does much to protect it
what are everyones favorite kindle cases or protective thingys

The official one is really nice. With the book light and all.
The official one WITH the light is great. (but expensive)
I do NOT recommend the official leather case without the light. I've had two, and returned both soon after trying them out. They have a problem, where the small metal connectors that fit into the slits on the side of the Kindle can cause the Kindle to reset randomly, and do so a lot.
When me and my wife had them our Kindles regularly froze and restarted randomly while inside the case, but worked perfectly outside of the case.
The lighted case also has connectors that fit into the side slits, but they're gold connectors and they're there to use the Kindle's power to work the light. I've had zero problems using my Kindle while inside the lighted case, whereas using it within the unlit cases was frustrating as hell.
yeah, i got the lighted case for my mom, but it is a bit expensive, and i don't find myself needing a booklight too often. my friend has the marware case that looks like the official one, so that's another thing i looked at.
I like M-edge. They are quality and they have a ton of different styles. My husband and I both have one. I have the Trip Jacket and he has the Executive Jacket. The trip jacket is just the size of the kindle and canvas covered, I like it because my hands are small and it doesn't add much size and id light weight. The Executive is large, heavier and leather which my husband likes because he he says the kindle feels too flimsy without it as his hands are huge. A bonus is if you feel like you want a case light in the future M-edge makes one the fits in their covers, and most of the covers are made to accommodate it. It doesn't run off of the kindle battery like the official case, which I actually like, but it just takes 1 AAA battery.
Also, the Best Buys around me carry a variety of M-edge cases so you could possibly just go buy one instead of ordering if you have a BB near you.

I'll second that - I just bought their slip case for mine as I actually like holding the kindle in my hands (same with the iPad!).
