Applying real world situations to the [Pokémon] universe

Over the years, the Pokémon world has been seen as a kind and colorful world with it's hundreds of species of animals and monsters. With only a few criminal organizations, children as young as 10 are allowed to venture by themselves across the world catching creatures in minature balls and battling them for fame, glory, badges and money. Various monsters and animals are also seen to have an intelligence similar to that of humans and have been seen to help people with the many tasks and services of every day life.

But in the real world, there would be many debates and controversies surrounding these. Which leads to questions that many have wondered what would happen if both of our world's morals and ethics were integrated together.

Would Pokémon be given the same rights as humans or would they be treated as animals?
Which Pokémon would be used as food?
If a Pokémon learned to speak english, would people view as some sort of evil spawn?
Would there be laws surrounding human and Pokémon "love" relationships (especially those who are humanoid in shape)?
Would a Pokémon's performance in battle be affected if it's been desexed?

What are some other questions that you might have regarding this?
