So, I am taking a week long vacation to Iceland in September. This will actually be my first time travelling outside of the US, and I am both excited and nervous at the prospect. I tend to pretty good at making preparations, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to come here and get any tips you folks might have about travelling abroad in general and also any suggestions or recommendations you all might have about Iceland in particular.
I would especially like to hear any recommendations about good places to get food in Reykjavik that won't break the bank (ideally places that I wouldn't feel too awkward dining alone in), and also recommendations for stuff to bring back home with me that is fairly unique to Iceland and would make good gifts or souvenirs. Thanks!
