Monitoring humidity/temp in each room for cheap?

The humidity/temps vary a lot in my house between rooms and levels. I'm going to start doing home improvements and want to have some type of gauge on how much it's helping or not.

Something like this would be ideal, because it's cheap and has both:

But everyone I find has crappy reviews. I would need about 3-6 of them.

The other options, is there any sort of new fancy technology for this? Ideal, it would be small, you drop it in a room and sends stats to a "master control". You then pull those stats into your computer/excel. That would be beyond awesome. Does anything like that exist?
