PAX Assumptions

Honestly didn't know where to put this, I started a new thread but if admins think it should go in FAQ or elsewhere, that's fine.

I'm a 35 year old gamer. My interest lay almost exclusively in RPG's, Boardgames and Miniatures, I could care less about video games. I know there is a contingent of RPG's/Boardgames/Miniatures at PAX. But I really, really have no clue what to expect. Wondering if people could clear up some assumptions for me. Let me be clear, these are assumptions, I’m not trying to be a dick, I’m not trying to insult anyone, I'm trying to determine is how much my expectations will be met or not met. If you see an assumption that you think is incorrect, please let me know. Here they are in no particular order:

Assumption #1: Video Games (in terms of fans and exhibits) will outnumber RPG's by at least 4-1.
Assumption #2: There will be much cosplay
Assumption #3: There will little to no old school boardgames or boardgames that take 6 hours + to play (Diplomacy, Civilization, 9 player game of thrones, etc)
Assumption #4: The exhibit hall will be on par with a vegas casino in terms of noise.
Assumption #5: Popular events will be filled more with “fans” than “enthusiasts” (ie people are more likely to go an event because of who is in the event, as opposed to what the event is about)
Assumption #6: Most RPG events will be mainstream games (D&D, Pathfinder, etc.)
Assumption #7: All miniature games will be mainstream (ie no historical, or small press games)
Assumption #8: The concerts are all niche style “nerdcore” music.
Assumption #9: PAX is less about games than it is about the people around the games.
Assumption #10: Scheduled 2-4 hour RPG events are few, and non-existent for non-mainstream games.

Again, I’m not trying to be a dick, I’m not trying to insult anyone, but as someone who has never played halo, never seen an episode of the guild, not played WoW, I’m trying to figure out how to manage my expectations. I want to enjoy PAX, but I’m seriously skeptical that if I ask people in line about “where was the sunsword hidden in your first run through of Ravenloft”, “Italy can be a contender in Diplomacy”, “What is your favorite Clyde Caldwell TSR cover” or even “Remember when you didn’t need figs to play rpgs” that I’ll just get blank stares. I’m honestly worried that the tide that is PAX will completely pass me by because it is not structured/meant for old school gamers. Thanks for any input people might have.
