Google Chrome randomly allowing javascript

Within the past day or two Chrome has started to randomly allow javascript on pages that I have not whitelisted. The icon for blocked scripts (a page of text with a red x over it) does not appear, and scripts will run on the page. If I reload the non-whitelisted page, it usually then blocks javascript as it is supposed to. It clearly is not consistent about it, so I don't know how to fix it.

The most recent example was actually on google.com itself. I do not have google.com whitelisted, but the last search I ran had all of the features which rely on javascript activated on the results page (instant search, image results enlarging on mouseover etc). After I reloaded, back to being blocked as normal.

Any ideas for why this could be happening?
