Help for exporting from iTunes. (Solved)

Does anyone know how to export from iTunes? Friend of mine broke her iPod, and doesn't have enough money for a new one yet. I've recommended she buy one of the crappy Coby ones to tide her over, but then she has to get all of her songs out of iTunes. She has tried before, but can't get it to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, all!

FYI, if you edit your post you can now rename the thread. I had that issue earlier today.

Thank you! I posted it, but as it was loading, I noticed that the subject field had emptied, but couldn't figure out how to edit it...

What do you mean "export from iTunes"? All iTunes music is stored in the filesystem, in whatever format they were ripped/downloaded/bought. She just needs to locate her library and bam... exported.

Unless they're still DRMed somehow (I seem to recall Apple removed their DRM from purchased songs a while back?), I can't imagine there would be any problem transferring her music onto the other MP3 player. You can find where her music folder is by going into iTunes and going to Edit > Preferences > Advanced tab. It's all in there, should be organized into nice, neat little folders (which is part of the reason I've used iTunes to manage my music at all). Then it's just a matter of getting them copied in some way the new player will recognize them. By default, the music is likely all in MP3 or AAC (.m4a) format, both of which are pretty standard formats. If it is DRMed for some reason, uhh, I'm not sure what you would need to go through in that case.

See that's just it, I don't think much of her music was purchased over iTunes. Most of it was from CD's, that she ripped to the computer, then imported to iTunes. But, she says, now that they are in there, she cannot get anything else to access the file.

Is your friend a bit, for lack of a more polite term, technologically illiterate? You may need to help her directly.

If there is a more significant problem we need a lot more details than you're able to provide with secondhand information.

The music is probably stored music/itunes/itunes media

If she cannot find her media at the default location fasterfreak mentioned (which is a relative path name, auth pathname is likely C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media), then she could find out where by opening iTunes, select "Edit" menu, select "Preferences", select "Advanced" and she can view the iTunes media folder location.

Well, thanks for the help all. I think it will take me going over and having a look at it myself. Now, anyone know how to close a thread?

You can add "SOLVED" to the title and a mod might lock it. Otherwise, just leave it alone and let it die. Don't completely change the title though because people often search the forums for answers to questions they may have.
