I think this has to be the most underrated RTS series ever. Released by Enlight Software and Trevor Chan back in November 1997 and the second installment in 1999, this is an RTS game that includes an economic system that was derived from turn based economic systems.

Seven Kingdoms I

It features 7 civilizations with an additional 3 in a free patch. The nationalities are: Normans, Mayans, Vikings, Japanese, Chinese, Persians, Greek and the 3 additional ones are the Zulu, Mughals and finally Egyptians. I personally enjoy playing as the Mughals more than anyone else. Each civilization has 2 modes of attack and 1 defensive mode which whey learn as the soldiers train in the castle longer.

It also features research which can be done in Research towers, inns to recruit mercenaries and other buildings. Alongside it also includes Evil "monsters" so to speak, which you can attack and kill which drop something called a "Scroll of Power" which allows you to build a temple and summon your Gods to help you either in Battle or in Economic situations.

Seven Kingdoms II

Instead of just 10, it has 12 civilizations to play with but the Mayans and the Zulu are removed from the game and instead Mongol, Carthaginian, Roman and Celt civilizations added. Also a new feature in the game is that the Fryhtans are now playable. I haven't played this for long so I know only bits and pieces of the game, but it seems enjoyable and the updates in graphics are quite nice.

So who has played this game and enjoyed it? I've played Seven Kingdoms I more the II and I think it stands the test of time unlike some RTS games. Of course the graphics aren't to die for, but its perfect for low end computers and as something which won't eat a lot of space or memory. Graphics are below:

I would play every game of Seven Kingdoms the same way: Create spy, infiltrate enemy, methodically kill all of their leaders that are not working for me, nod sagely when my spy becomes their king and hands me the kingdom.

    Every game.

I remember this game. It was really innovative and unique, but it needed some more polishing. For one thing, the UI was really clunky, and just made it way too hard to do everything. And the weapons were way too strong and cheap compared to soldiers.
